Doug- given that stylus rake angle is such a well accepted theory somebody must have done this already. With far more accuracy than I can. From what I have gathered so far the head is more like a plow than a knife. It cuts forward and to the side....

Okay so we have two manufacturers claiming breakin is necessary because they say so and some anecdotal evidence.One thing that may happen is the connection may "seat" over time.
