Hegel H120 or H190
From reading online it appears the digital section of the H120 and H190 are identical.  I think basically it comes down to are u going to hear a difference with 75 wpc vs 150 wpc driving your speakers when listening at 80 dB ?  I think you will he...
Hegel H120 or H190
The H190 is overkill for the room - but if you ever plan to move the system to a larger space it would be the smarter purchase.  Looking at a couple of sites - the used H190 sells for $600 to $1000 more than the H120.  There are many more H190s av...
All in One amp up to $7k
I'd consider the Atoll SDA-300 (or 200).  $5500 all in one.  150W, 2 toroidal transformers, dedicated power supplies for analogue stages as well as the dac.  Discrete class A preamp circuitry.  Burr brown dac I, personally, like the advice of a s...
DarTzeel’s new direction
I am not sure why he would pull all of his products from his website if he was actually coming out with a more affordable lineup.  Why would u not offer both ?  Doesn't add up.
Help needed with new integrated amp.
GR Research has a youtube video explaining what they found testing the LRSplus and the upgrade they made to it.  I would start with that before investing in new hardware.  If u still want hardware recs - a used NAD class a/b amp are fantastic soun...
Subwoofer Advice
I would use the Rhythmik F12 or F12SE which are servo-controlled to match the speed of the ML ESL's.
High end bookshelf speakers for Small room
Due to hurricane Ian in 2022, I had to move into a condo while rebuilding our home.  I started with LS50 metas and they were so thin and lacking in bass.  I moved on to Fyne F501-SPs which were much better than the Kefs.  I then moved up to Fische...
Relaxed/Analog sounding DAC for under $10k (used or new)
Atoll Dac300 is a great sound per dollar option.  Around 3 to 4K. Review https://www.tnt-audio.com/sorgenti/atoll_dac300_e.html
Best speaker brands for transient response
I would add Marten Oscar speakers to your list.  They have ceramic drivers with extremely fast transients.  They have videos on YouTube discussing why they selected ceramic as their chosen material.  Their speakers are highly acclaimed.  The sugge...
Auditioning Used Equipment - Am I crazy ?
@sokogear They are a dealer for the used piece I wanted to audition.  I didn't know if I'd like like it which is why I wanted to audition it.  I Sent a follow-up email asking if they had a new unit in the store that I could audition and I received...
Auditioning Used Equipment - Am I crazy ?
@barts , That is f'ing nuts !  You win.  That dealer is a heck of alot dumber than my audio dealer.  A Viper is nice but no way commands that kind of attitude !
Auditioning Used Equipment - Am I crazy ?
@russbutton , the D&Ds are a great suggestion. I am seriously considering them. Thank you !
Comparison of various subwoofers for 2 channel audio
Rythmik and velodyne are both excellent options.  I think u want something servo controlled to match the speed of the electrostatic.  Rythmik has a pretty detailed write-up on this on their website.
Auditioning Used Equipment - Am I crazy ?
@gents .  My request was to audition the equipment at the dealer where the unit is already located.  I am not asking for an in home audition.  I would be driving 2 hrs each way to be able to audition and purchase.  The dealer has refused to remove...
Auditioning Used Equipment - Am I crazy ?
@immatthewj the fact the unit was $10k is what blew my mind.  This isnt a mCIntosh where you can go anywhere to hear it.  Who the heck drops $10k on a used product with extremely limited distribution / demand  that they've never heard besides a fl...
