"Double" bi-amping a good idea?
You don't have to use an external crossover if the speakers are set up for bi-amping. The sound will be better with the external crossover but since good ones aren't cheap, I would just plug 'em in and use the passive crossover in your speakers in...

Heh, the oscilliscope sounds great but isn't in my budget :-) Frap, how good is the model 8010a of the Fluke dvm? Found a used one which fits my budget (El Cheapo!)Greg

The meter was fixed on a tripod. My position varied, it was behind the meter, but I made no attempt to position myslef in one place. The Monster was Zip cord, while the Argent cable was a shielded design (not sure of exactly what was inside). The ...
DVD Sound Versus CD Sound
I agree with you completely. I'm just dying waiting for a player which will play DVD, CD, DVD-Audio and SACD. I really wish Sony hadn't turned it into a format war. I really dislke them for that and won't buy their products because of it. I have a...

Yes those were recorded with only one speaker driven as you suggest. I should have mentioned that. I tried both methods and found that there was more than enough bleedthrough from the second speaker to skew the results so I stopped it.

I was using the Stereophile Test CD 3 bass decade 1/3 octave warble tones track. I agree the 2 dB hump really threw me also, since I had always believed that wire was wire and once you got a big enough one it didn't matter anymore. I was using the...

Well, I think we might be setting out to prove different propositions. I am not trying to measure exactly how much difference exists. I am trying to show that a somewhat reasonable and impartial model of the human ear can detect and measure differ...
Bob Marley...Legend vs. New Album....
I heard the remasters are coming out on DVD Audio soon (from the Stereophile site). I'm really looking forward to that!
Most musical high-efficient 3-way bi-ampable spkr?
The Silverline speakers are wonderful with tubes. I haven't heard the Coincident so I can't comment on them. You might also want to take a look at the Legacy Signature IIIs. Legacy's website is www.Legacy-Audio.com. I haven't heard them with a tub...
Bob Marley...Legend vs. New Album....
I don't imagine this'll help much, but as a devoted Marley fan my suggestion would be to toss the Legend album and buy the original albums. The songs are much, much better in their proper original context. (I bought Legend and played it twice befo...

I have to say I would agree with those who hear differences in speaker cable. These differences are measurable with a SPL meter. Here are some measurements of speaker cables I have taken with a Radio Shack meter. This was comparing Monster MC1 (I ...

Thanks for all the feedback! So much for UPS :-).
"I've Got Blisters on My..."
Heh, if the kid couldn't tell that lyric was fingers, he must have been in too many boom cars! (Or else listening to the song in one). Ask him how 50% distortion sounds at 120 dB, if he can hear you....
Dumb Question
Thanks, I figured I couldn't get there from here, but it's nice to know for sure!
