Suggestions for a DAC/Streamer to replace BlueOS Node Streamer
I upgraded from an early BluOS Node to an eversolo to a NAD M33, which also uses the BluOS, so no need to learn another app. Used M33s are around $3500 on ebay. Thats an all-in-one device. You can also plug that SSD into the M33.
Using a power strip in an old home that was build back in 1955
If you're going to use a power strip, at least use a good one, like this (which comes in more and less outlets. You get what you pay for.   https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000511U7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
JBL's Marketing Blunder..
Brilliant. And like someone said, notice that they are shown as financially successful. Not only can they afford the gear, someone can afford an awfully nice house to put it in. They're not dressed like babes either. Functional clothing that you w...
Is the idea of audiophile listening a dying concept as boomers die off?
I think the reason live music is such a 'thing' now is that the very young don't know how good music can sound on a decent system, which does not mean a really expensive system. Just, you know, what we boomers had in our youth, a receiver, a sourc...
Looking for a streaming DAC around 4k
Hi there and thanks, the HiFI Rose actually checks all the boxes for me. I'll have a look at the others too.
Looking for a streaming DAC around 4k
@akg_ca thanks for the help. It appears there is no local storage or even a way to connect a library via external USB, which would rule it out for me. @kennymacc I will get right on it. To @tony1954, I'm in the NE USA, I will look into Aurender ...
Looking for a streaming DAC around 4k
I did, thanks. But it comes with a pre-amp that I don't need, else I'd have to sell my integrated and then buy an amp, and that's another rabbit hole :-)
Andrew Singer Of "Sound by Singer" passed away yesterday
I don't remember him but I bought a couple of items there including my first pair of Dynaudios... I think they may have been $1200 for the pair. I owned a small industrial business in Chelsea at the time and always wore jeans which could get dirty...
Moving into an apartment with wood joist floors - worried about neighbors hearing
I'd invest in a Sound Pressure Level meter for your own use and to use in your downstairs' neighbor's place if things get ugly. I was a co-op board president in NYC a while, that's a great tool for handling complaints.
Records and CDs
You would be surprised that if you are into current pop music, LPs are being released for a great many albums and sales are off the charts.  I'm going to use this excuse to rant, I don't understand this at all. Vinyl is not a particularly good wa...
Songs you use when auditioning gear
I have, from my youth, a few Sheffield Labs direct to disc LPs. There are a couple of Harry James big band LPs that are wonderful.
Starting a Classical Vinyl Music Collection
I would start another way. There are mammoth collections of CD editions of Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven on Amazon. I mean dozens of discs for pennies a disc. Give them a listen, decide what you like and start your LP collections from there.  Like ...
Your Not-So-Obvious Best Fidelity LPs
Janis Ian 'At Seventeen'.
Your Not-So-Obvious Best Fidelity LPs
Curtis Mayfield 'Live'. Most Jeff Beck. Most Frank Zappa. For classical, just about anything on the Proprius and Arkiv labels.
Ripping CDs
@linnvolk many ways to do this from simple to not... just like playing ripped music. The simplest way would be to copy a few movies onto a USB stick which you would plug into your TV or HT amp and watch on your TV. Of course you can always wa...
