anybody compare Dynaudio Special 40's/Heritage Specials/Confidence 20's?
All of the Dyn’s require a quality high current amp to open them up. As far as the question, it seems like you prefer a ‘V’-curve sound. The 40’s have a (flavor) of a V-curve. All of the higher end, eg Contour and up, do not have the same crossov...
Is more amp power always better...?
In my experience, the larger the transformer is in the Amplifier, the better it will sound (Solid State). Class D is a bit different there, but a quality power supply in the Class D is important. If I have this correct, the larger the transforme...
Would you buy a pair of speakers by just looking at the measured freq. response?
@deKay - LMAO @yoyoyaya - Love the handle! @OP - Look at your speakers as a musical instrument. They will sound different in every environment. Most houses are not built for good sound reproduction from our systems. You have to tailor a system f...
A "Downgrade" that proved to be a spectacular "Upgrade" -------
LMAO @waytoomuchstuff
Velodyne DD15 - worth repairing the plate amp?
I didn’t do anything other than set it up manually. Also, just because you had no issues with the plate amps in the Velodyne’s doesn’t mean that isn’t a very common issue. That is the same reason I will not give money to JL Audio. Too many plate ...
Velodyne DD15 - worth repairing the plate amp?
I have owned Velodyne HGS as well as the DD series. I also currently own SVS (1x SB 2000 Pro - 1x SB4000 - 2x SB 16 Ultras). I run a 2 channel system now. The Velodyne is a much better sub than the 2000 - no question. Is it ‘Better’ than the SB16...
FYI: Dynaudio Evidence Masters are being made again!
My fault for feeding the trolls.
FYI: Dynaudio Evidence Masters are being made again!
I am not sure why this is a relevant question, but am planning to purchase several pairs. I am moving to a rather large home in January and would like several systems and at least one system per house.
Is soundstage DEPTH a myth?
This has been an interesting read. A lot of ‘Interesting’ responses. In my system, in my room, Playing ‘Money for Nothing’ I can hear that Sting is behind Mark Knopfler and just to the right. - I cannot make that out on most systems - This is from...
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often
Over the last 40 or so years I have found that I gravitate towards low efficiency speakers with silk tweeters. Those sound best to me. Yes, it is sometimes a pain to get a good match for these as they require gobs of current, but at the same time ...
"Audiophile" Power Cables: The Greatest Audio Conspiracy Theory of All Time?
Really enjoyed reading that! Thank you sir for taking the time to write that and for risking the inevitable  wraith of the non-imaginative posters that tend to stalk these corridors.
New Class D amplifiers
If you are interested in an integrated solution for your Heritage setup, Aavik has amazing synergy with Danish loudspeakers. They are not cheap but sound amazing.  I am in the process of upgrading all of my Dynaudios to either Børresen or Raidho ...
Need Inputs on a Modestly Priced SS Preamp -
If you are ok with the pre-owned market there are 2 pre’s listed on Agon right now that meet your needs and will sound miles ahead of anything you have listed (Balanced out as well). Either the Krell Showcase or the Krell HTS 5.1.  The 2channel ...
Dynaudio - Made in China vs Denmark
I realize this is a few days 'late' and a bit too long, but I just haven't had the time to reply until now. The OP has asked if the value will hold as well as 'other' Dyn's made in Denmark. --TLDR; - The answer is no, they will not. Just look at...
Large speaker recommendation
Another thought…. With that budget, go find a Steinway-Lyngdorf dealer and take a listen - it is a vast departure from you asked for, but the end result is there. It is a system package, which is an adjustment, but let your ears do their thing.
