Why don't higher end amplifiers come with a separate power chassis?
@emergingsoul NAIM is a British company. Their equipment is very well made. I’d say the NAIM sound signature is similar to that of McIntosh but priced a bit lower. I heard from a NAIM dealer that their flagship line of amplifiers do come with a se...
Why don't higher end amplifiers come with a separate power chassis?
My amp has two power supplies and a battery.
Mono Cartridge Question
@intactaudio So what's the antidote?
Mono Cartridge Question
The AT 33 mono has a 0.65 conical stylus with vertical compliance which is why anyone can play a stereo record with this mono cartridge. I had a Grado mono with elliptical stylus and without vertical compliance and it destroyed any stereo record i...
Why is it that every time, lately, that I'm interested in a thread...
@allenf1963 seeing that your post isn't censored, your comment seems paradoxical.
Why is it that every time, lately, that I'm interested in a thread...
I don't know if any of you remember or were a part of the Gramophone Magazine Forum but I was a very early poster. Over the course of time people were down right repugnant. The level of insults, name calling, racially disparaging attacks, etc... b...
Origin Live Tonearms
@mycarnival789 Sure I'm going to follow my heart or even more so, my wallet. I'm using a modified Thorens TD 160. It's essentially a TD 160 Super with the work I've put into it. So it's similar to your Linn but without the advantage of a decent Li...
Origin Live Tonearms
@dodgealum I just need to use a Dremel tool to cut away enough to fit the mounting plate. Fortunately, I've got some virtual help with doing this. So I'm getting that you believe the Silver to be a well built tonearm despite the Zephyr being more ...
Origin Live Tonearms
@noromance In a free market economy that pretty much amounts to anything. I'm getting the impression that the Silver is cheaply made, that the bearings are like those in the older SME tonearms? That the arm tube possibly resonates? Regardless the...
Origin Live Tonearms
@noromance I can see where the extra $300.00 might be justified by getting an arm with better bearings. Better arm material would be a plus but not sure if it’s as important.
The best plug in filter ever!
@antigrunge2 I believe there’s something to say about the fact that Akiko has  been able to stay in business for such a long time. Not sure if that’s due to the cost and effectiveness of their products or if it says more about their savvy business...
The best plug in filter ever!
I received an email response from Akiko Audio regarding the break in period and their newest tuning stick. Here it is, The burn-in time of the tuning sticks is indeed about 14-21 days. You can add a Triple AC Evolution to your system. This new Tr...
The best plug in filter ever!
@antigrunge2 I’ve had the same experience by trying certain plugs in a variety of places. For example, I have two XLR inputs on my DAC and by plugging an XLR Tuning Stick into the right channel, it renders a more forward presence while plugging it...
The best plug in filter ever!
@jerryg123 then maybe I ought to consider the Les Loss filters over any others. Thanks!
The best plug in filter ever!
@jerryg123 I watched the video, thanks. The Akiko requires a significant amount of burn in time. Right out of the box, it's harsh and bright and the graininess is cringe worthy. After a few days, it begins to settle in but it probably needs a full...
