Next step: preamp or phono preamp
@glennewdick I already have the preamp and phonostage picked out. The preamp will be a tube preamp, the phono is solid state. My question is order of purchase, not what to purchase.
Next step: preamp or phono preamp
@mesch My Loungle is going right into the SYS and it works good. I don't have anything to compare it to other than I have to run it louder than my digital source (loud is 12 o'clock vs 10 o'clock on my digital source). As I said, I know what compon...
Next step: preamp or phono preamp
@hifiman5 unfortunately, the tube pre I’m getting at some point doesn’t have that option.
Next step: preamp or phono preamp
@mesch thanks. I am getting a tube pre by the same manufacturer and the phonostage will be as well. Things sound surprisingly good with the Schiit so I wondered if going with the phono now would be the way to go.
Raven Audio/nighthawk or Osprey
Dave is a great guy.
Integrated Amp to match with Magico A3
I believe Magico uses Odyssey amps to voice their speakers.
New D'Agostino Monoblocks...$250,000
I have to wonder if the “golden toilet” crowd who can afford these even turn them on an anysort of semi-regular basis. That, to me, is theironically sad part of pandering to the 10% crowd. Ive never heard any of his amps and have no interest. It’s...
Schiit Vidar.... Anyone heard one yet?
I had the Freya/Vidar combo. The Vidar did what it said. The only weirdness with it for me was that it got extremely warm. Weird because it’s A/B. My new amp is Class A for the first 3-4 watts and then goes A/B is not any where near as warm. Not b...
Anyone hear a Croft Integrated Amp?
I’ve been considering the Micro25 with my Odyssey Khartago. On paper it seems like it should work.
Integrated amp + dac for Focal
Focals love current. Something that’s stable to 2 ohms.
Marantz PM8006 vs NAD C375BEE
I have a PM6005 and it has a nice sound. I'm selling as it doesn't have the current to drive my Focals against their impedance.Overall I liked the amp a lot for what thats worth.
don sach's custom kt88 tube amp
@wig and @scarbpaul12 What type of music do you play most often? I'm curious as to whether a Don Sachs preamp is right for me and my very non audiophile approved music.
Ever Bought an Audio Product that was Stupid Good for the Money?
Odyssey Khartago (with a few upgrades). A runaway garbage truck couldn't knock the smile off my face.
NAD C 275 Bee
@adman227 Even though Focal lists the Chorus speakers at 8 ohms, assume 4. I used to run a Marantz PM6005 which is 45 watts and it gets my 807v's plenty loud BUT, the impedance curve in the mid bass is too much for the Marantz so its scooped in th...
7" Singles
I will always buy the 12” if there is one. I only buy 7” if it’s the only way/only affordable way to get a song.
