Great music few are aware of. Any genre. Umbersun is great. Thanks. Might want to check outSPK -- Zamia Lehmanni: Songs of Byzantine Flowers
Proac D48R Congrats on the new speakers!
Most transparent power amp It's really interesting to me how many OTL's are listed here.
What should my next upgrade be? Your best experience I agree that the Sonos's dac and analog output might be the weakest link. But it looks like your UD7007 can also function as a streamer and dac. You might want to try that option (if you haven't already) before spending a dime.
What do you consider the most musical speakers—$15000 & under I haven't had the chance to listen to as many speakers as most of the posters here, but I'd personally be thrilled with either the ProAc D48R or Harbeth 40.2 and probably base my decision more on what the upstream equipment pairing & room plac...
$3000 Speaker Search I always see Salks paired with pretty hefty amps; I'm not sure if that's a cause for concern, or just what the manufacturer prefers. The Song3 did look & sound real nice when I heard them last year, though. The best advice is to demo as much a...
Lesser known 2 way bookshelf Speakers from the 80's Castle Trent (mkII I think) were my first real speakers. Not the most detailed, but midrange & vocals were spot on. Gifted them to a friend when I embarked on extensive travelling.
Best / Cheapest desktop micro-amp? Maybe check out Temple Audio--class D units handmade from Britain. Very low distortion and stable into low ohms.I have their monoblocks. Very smooth and detailed. I'd love to hear your opinions to how their Analog Devices chip implementation ...
Proac Rake angle? In my limited experience, although I've been impressed with some speakers that have utilized rather noticeable rake angles, I've found no improvement by changing that on my own speakers. But I have found most speakers sound best to me a bit higher...
After nearly 20 years, I left Magnepan and went ProAc All good advice above. I'd like to add that--regardless of whether you end up with outriggers, spikes, pucks, herbies, or other isolation--getting a bottom ported speaker up further from the floor should help control bass. Raising the tweeter a...
Anyone hear a Croft Integrated Amp? I purchased a used Croft Micro 25 preamp last year based on reviews & forums, and could not be happier with it. I would have zero regrets even had I paid full retail price. However I never initiate conversations about it or the brand, bec...
After nearly 20 years, I left Magnepan and went ProAc Congratulations! One of my dream speakers.
A Different Solution for Cables I'm currently bi-wiring my speakers with a combination of Wireworld & Anti-cables. I had assumed that the improvement using both (over either singly--even connected bi-wired) was primarily due to the larger amount of wire involved--especial...
Speaker recommendation for married couple After reading your follow-up, the first thing I want to ask is if you've ever considered a tube pre &/or amp? That can make a notable difference, adding a bit of both presence & smoothness to vocals. One of the things that makes entry Vand... |
