BEDROOM MONITORS, on ceiling.....
Also the Genelec Active monitor if you want to get radical with it. Genelec makes some kick ass active speakers! All you need is a source.Maybe a wireless squeeze box hooked to your computer..this way you can control the music genre and volume fro...
I am very happy with my progress to this point.
I use a modified Pioneer 578A as a transport.I can honestly say without a doubt it is rock solid in that area. I had other players that were quite a bit more expensive. The Pioneer's transport is where it's at. You need a DAC,one with a good power...
BEDROOM MONITORS, on ceiling.....
A speaker similar to the Omega Mini Me should work nicely.Since Louis builds his speakers to custom order. He could make them the color you want and probably design ceiling mount brackets for them. The sound a speaker this size projects from a cei...
Monitors for a bedroom system.......
lololololololololol..Marco you should be doing standup.HaHa that's a good one!
Are first order crossovers best?
For the people that haven't seen it.Here's a nice little walk through by Pat McGinty on Time Coherence and how to read a step response of a loudspeaker..The Step Response Reveals All.Of course time coherence is just one part as speaker design is q...
Are first order crossovers best?
I think understand..it's similar to what a baffle step correction circuit does for my speakers. The amplifier sees an almost constant 9 ohm load. This makes the impedance flat from 100Hz all the way passed 20Khz. Also the phase angle is nearly zer...
Are first order crossovers best?
So from your description Unsound, Theil uses a Zobel network in conjunction with the cross-overs in their speakers? Similar to that of the GMA Europa.
Are first order crossovers best?
Unsound, I agree with you wholeheartly my friend. I also favor 1st order crossovers or none at all. This cable thing has me scratching my head too.I've never heard of matching cables to a certain crossover design.
Are first order crossovers best?
Unsound you're partly correct on the 1st order=correct phase. Until recently I thought all 1st order crossover speakers maintained correct phase. To my dismay there's a couple of imposters in the group.Sonus Fabers and some Dynaudio speakers have t...
"Air, Extension, Resolution" Music or Hi Fi?
Also one more thing, if you have an itch to try something a little radical but inexpensive. A pair of Visaton B200s in a open baffle should give you what your looking for. From communicating with a friend that also owned maggies. This speaker mated...
"Air, Extension, Resolution" Music or Hi Fi?
Sogood51 nailed it very well me thinks. I also had a pair of the MG-1Bs and a pair of the 2.5Rs. The ribbon series had more resolution. But it wasn't as integrated as the basic panel of the older Maggie. Honestly when I think about it, I enjoyed t...
Monitors for a bedroom system.......
I don't know if putting a speaker with a rear port tuned sharply at 50Hz 6 inches from a wall is a good idea. The results could be disastrious. He's liable to have a lumpy mess for sound.LOL
Paradigm Seismic for music?
The Paradigm Seismic is great for movies. I'm not sure if you want it for music. It has bass that will loosen fillings no kidding! The Onix rocket UF subwoofer could be a better fit for a music system.Someone on Agon just sold a new one for $450..s...
Monitors for a bedroom system.......
Yeap I agree with Rar1 on this. If you own this home. Have you considered mounting speakers on the ceiling that tilt down towards your bed. The speakers can be be back from the foot of the bed facing you at a 45 degree angle. I've got a good frien...
upgrade to the original birdland
No I haven't Sean. You may get some opinions on them if you post the question in the speaker forum. Also let them know what types of music you listen too. Every bit of info helps us to understand what your trying to do.
