Swiss Digital Fuse Box - "What headroom sounds like" The best is full polishing with both sides of a Connoisseurs gold jewelry polishing cloth, then clean with 99% isopropyl alcohol using a microfiber cloth, then insert into fuse holder, all without skin touching it. Maybe wear nitrile gloves, or ju...
Swiss Digital Fuse Box - "What headroom sounds like" Well, it's an extremely simple test that anyone can do themselves. Unempirical speculation isn't really necessary. Step 1) Take out your Sluggos, handle them with your fingers getting sebum on them, then put them back in, and listen. Step 2) Tak...
Swiss Digital Fuse Box - "What headroom sounds like" @ozzy What makes you think I'm "getting carried away"?
Swiss Digital Fuse Box - "What headroom sounds like" @thyname, @wig and other SDFB users: I found out today that, whether or not you’ve polished your Sluggos, wiping them and handling them only with a clean, fine fiber cotton cloth when inserting them into your fuse holder is very important for high...
300b lovers Fascinating read. I'm definitely stopping by the Spatial room at PAF
millercarbon Millcarbon is doing fine. I bought some of his Cable Cradles for vibration isolation just a few weeks ago. Great product, might write a review
subwoofer buzz - how to eliminate it @grislybutter Sure, happy to try to help. The Nobsound are going to be more classy looking than the Auralex platform. They are brushed aluminum with some shine to them, and when the springs are compressed about halfway as they should be (no more t...
subwoofer buzz - how to eliminate it @grislybutter I previously suggested both the Nobsound springs and the Auralex Subdude in part because the Nobsound feet have free 30-day returns, so you can decide if any additional isolation benefit is worth it to you. They isolate in a differen...
Top two most important sound qualities @rauliruegas Perhaps you misunderstood what I said. My sub has a line level output with passive HPF at 80hz. Good enough for me. Noticably less distortion in the woofers and better imaging using that route to the amp.
Top two most important sound qualities @rauliruegas Appreciated. I’ve been looking into it lately after this was brought up by someone else recently. My sub does have a single ended HPF 80hz output, so I plan to try this today and listen for the difference.
subwoofer buzz - how to eliminate it @grislybutter Turning sideways may or may not help. You'd have to try it. Raising the height using a platform helps whether it's front or downward firing. Personally, I wouldn't bother with the slab, even though it's probably a good solution. I wo...
subwoofer buzz - how to eliminate it @grislybutter I initially missed your comment that it's downward firing. If it were me, I would also use a subwoofer platform with the Nobsound feet on top of it to get the sub raised further above floor level. This combo together will give you c...
subwoofer buzz - how to eliminate it I use Douk Audio Nobsound isolation feet, which uses springs, under my sub. If your sub isn’t falling apart at the seams, that should help. $30 for a set of 4 You can buy on eBay from the manufacturer here
Top two most important sound qualities Having said that, I have an affinity for being in recording studios, so there isn’t a desire within me for my music to represent a live, staged affair which could block my listening enjoyment of most stuff I listen to. 🙂
Top two most important sound qualities I understand what is meant when people talk about an emotional vs cerebral type of listening, and I have two points to make about that, which you may find interesting. 1) It’s never either/or. No person is 100% one or the other. That’s not how... |
