Vinyl on the Radio
HFG - You might be interested in checking out Sirius satellite radio (can't remember channel number) - they have a "Classic Vinyl" channel.
Tweaks that convince others you're truly nuts...
Getting my speaker cables off the carpet. They are now suspended from the ceiling with monofilament and plastic wire tires. My wife tries not to notice when she comes into the listening area in our finished basement. She is very unhappy about the r...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
An antique store purchase, Ralph Towner, "Solo Concert". I really like this! Chick Corea, "Akoustic Band".
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam?
Gents - my 2 cents. By definitiion, steam is pure water vapor just as Sonofjim describes. Dissolved minerals and suspended solids are left behind during evaporation Some volatile organics will be evaporated as well. In practice however, the distil...
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam?
Be very cautious with bleach...it is a strong oxidizer and may attack some components of the vinyl if you over do it.
Best short-lived band?
Worth mentioning, I thought...Rockpile
Tung-Sol 6550 - Current Issue
Hello, CUH - Not sure this will illuminate anything for you...perhaps more by way of commiseration. I have a JoLida 502B. It came with stock Sovtek 6550s that ran without problem for almost 6 years. They seemed bullet proof. I went to JJ/Tesla KT8...

Actually, last night: Mahler's 4th Symphony...especially, the 3rd & 4th movements. Columbia Masterworks series. Bernstein conducting the NY Philharmonic. Reri Grist is the soprano soloist. Don't think it is that great a recording from a sonic ...
Most achingly-beautiful music
I always liked her single, "7 (?) Year Ache". Not sure I have that quite right. For whatever reason, don't own anything by her...must add her to the list. Thanks for the reminder, Rabco.
Totem Forest or Acoustic Zen Adagio
I think Digsmithd is giving good advice. I own the Forests and like them very much. I wish i could check out the Zen Adiogos...on the other hand, I hear magic every night with the Forests. When first installed I was concerned about a lack of bass....
Derivation of a Beautiful Piano Intro Solo?
Audphile 1 - I guess I did miss your point but still don't agree!
Derivation of a Beautiful Piano Intro Solo?
PS - Jfz - I'll be checking out NYC Serenade tonight for sure and the intro in particular. For me, 4th of July is one of my favorite tracks on "The Wild, the Innocent...".
Is this when you have "arrived??"
Sorry - and I do not wish to offend - but I have to object. I'm not sure hardware should be credited more than the music itself. Being moved to tears by beauty doesn't require a high end audio system.
