How do you know when to replace tubes I really AM impressed, WG.
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report Loomis - Agreed. I wasn't attempting to put Freedy in the same music category as Bill Lloyd. BUT Lloyd's "Back to Even" did bring Freedy to mind for me. There's something about his chords and lyric style (some wry and self-deprecating humor there)...
How do you know when to replace tubes Wolf - Seriously? 8000 hrs on power tubes?? I'm impressed. Regarding 6H30s...did recently replace some Sovteks in my pre-amp with EH gold pins. The Sovteks had hours on them but tested strong. Noticeable improvement in sound quality with the EHs i...
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report Thanks, guys...got Feeling the Elephant cranking now. Great sounds and songs. Do check out Freedy Johnston...not rocking quite as hard as Elephant but there is something similar to Bill L's. song writing (or so I think). ALSO - if you have never b...
Need a New CD Player Hey Will - sorry 'bout that, didn't understand your budget. As part of the same Distinction series of which the CD3000 is a part, TEAC offers 2 lower priced models. Maybe one of those (CD1000 or CD2000) would work? Did a quick check on Amazon...lo...
Pink Floyd, The Endless River - REVIEW Theo & Stereo5 - I wasn't going to comment further, but in response to Theo, especially...I listened to most of side 1 of this 2 disc recording before getting bored with it. No problem with it being largely instrumental...I tend to prefer inst...
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report Hoping all who observe the holiday enjoy a very happy Thanksgiving. I certainly have much to be grateful for. My sincere condolences to those members who experienced loss this year. The holidays can be very cruel in such circumstances.
Need a New CD Player If you have opportunity, audition a TEAC CD-3000 CD/SACD player. Trouble with auditioning, even if you can do it in your own place, in your system, is that, unless the unit is a demo, it will take a good while to break in.
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report You are welcome, Lak. Pokey - you're on a roll. The Grays' "Ro Sham Bo" is excellent and so is Bill Lloyd's "Back to Even". I did also listen at your recommendation to Jason Faulkner's "Author Unknown", liked that one too. Listening to Bill Lloyd ...
Super-sensitive volume controls - remedy? Found a helpful review of the Rothwells at "Enjoy The Music" August 2003. See link below. A few less exclamation marks than in Jafox's post but, otherwise, seemingly consistent with his observations. I see them carried by Amazon so might b possibl...
Super-sensitive volume controls - remedy? Do attenuators like the Rothwells impose any sort of penalty related to sonic quality? Thanks. Hope this is of interest to the OP too.
Where/How can I further improve PC audio quality? re Spotify Premium (from Wikipedia, Spotify entry)..."Spotify software is proprietary and uses digital rights management (DRM) to prevent unauthorised use. Pink Floyd, The Endless River - REVIEW Thanks for taking the time to post your impressions, Stereo5. For anyone wishing to dip their toe in The Endless River, the whole thing appears to be accessible on Spotify. Of course, if you like it enough, buy it!
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report Pokey - thanks for your separate recommendation of "Self Help Serenade" by Marjorie Fair. What a gorgeous recording. Enjoyed it very much. Evan Slamka is truly gifted. Looking forward to further time with Robert Forster and exploring the other rec...
New Music Direct Catalog Kinda like looking at the toy section of the Sears Roebuck catalog around Christmas time when I was a kid. |
