What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report Greg Haines "Digressions" - I've been enjoying this example of modern classical composition the last few evenings. Also, highly recommend Arve Henriksen's "Chiaroscuro".
soft thump and driver moves...even with no signal Yes, Atmasphere, if a tube problem, expect it to recur in the opposite channel. Fortunately, the 6H30s I'm using are not the uber $ "super tubes" and I have spares.
What's your latest album purchase? A couple from Jan Garbarek on ECM going back to the '70s...Dis & Dansere
soft thump and driver moves...even with no signal FWIW - reversed the ICs between pre-amp and amps. The noise and driver movement shifted from the left to the right speaker. Reversed the two 6H30s in the pre to see if maybe one of them was going bad. After pulling and re-installing them, no more ...
soft thump and driver moves...even with no signal Thanks again, Atmasphere. Planning to swap pre-amp interconnects and also (but separately) amp/speaker pairings. Pre is tubed...2 6H30s and 1 EZ80. BTW - changed out ALL the left amp tubes. Still got that movement after listening to a few tracks a...
soft thump and driver moves...even with no signal Thanks Atmasphere. That's helpful (look downstream of the pre-amp). In addition to a quad of 6CA7s, these amps each run a pair of 6922s + one 5687.
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD Having been trained and employed as a scientist, my perception of science is that it is almost more about process than achieving some permanent end-state of knowledge. Best Speakers For Electronica Music I agree with Czarivey. Consider the Forests. They have a relatively easy to handle impedance curve so something cable of 60 W into 4 ohm should be able to drive them to good dB levels without clipping. I think they sound fantastic with all sorts o...
Jazz for aficionados Hello Mapman - Yes, I'm recently aware of Soft Machine's Canterbury/psychedelic connection, though by the time of 5, I don't think there's much left of that sound. Did not know their influence on Prog Rock or your Caravan. Interesting you should m...
Jazz for aficionados Rok - Thanks for your reply and especially for giving Soft Machine a listen. I'm definitely interested in your opinion and that of Orpheus and Frogman. Beyond the heavily improvisational nature of their music I don't know if what they play is jazz...
Jazz for aficionados If I might intrude (thread watcher but not a jazz aficionado) - what are opinions about Soft Machine (e.g., '5')? This is a hugely long thread so apologies if they've already been discussed. Very curious what the usual suspects posting here think!
Fleetwood Mac Rhino 140g vinyl reissues? Thanks for the reply, Mofi. Have you seen any info the about source for these re-issues?
Warmish, good tracker & low noise for used vinyl? Update. After going round and round. I ended up getting a Grado Black. Went entry level to sort of hedge my bet as I hadn't heard any Grados before. BUT based on the Grado reputation, seemed like one of them would offer the mid-range I'd been enjo...
MSB BREAK IN PERIOD TEAC CD3000 easily took 300+ hours for bass to come in. Used the XLO burn in CD during the process.Schiit Gungnir DAC on the other hand was very rolled off initially...took a while (100+ hrs??) for the highs to come in on that.I do leave TEAC and ... |
