Good impedance match for Precision Fidelity C-7AR
Had a similar complaint about limited volume control range on my gear...though perhaps not as extreme as what you report, Pix. Almarg suggested attenuators. I went with Harrison Labs -12dB attenuators purchased from Parts Express. They were around...
Cable Cooking/Burnin
Yping...I do think the XLO track works. Does it work bettter/faster than simply playing music for an equal number of hours? Can't say (haven't had occasion to do the experiment with duplicate cables etc.) though that's my assumption. Would I like ...
Cable Cooking/Burnin
I bought and use the XLO burn in CD (track 9 on repeat) based on Geoff K's prior recommendation in another thread. It's useful for "re-settling" things when equipment has been moved around or cables changed.
Best Rock Album of 2015
Hello Audiotomb. I enjoy Wilco, some things more than others. Their production is usually very good. The brief listen to Star Wars that I did left me way underwhelmed song-wise; so I was surprised to see your vote for it as Best Rock Album of 2015...
Review: Merrill Audio Taranis Amplifier
Thanks for commenting Ag66. Good to hear from another Taranis owner.
Overshadowed by bandmates
A good bit late but YES, great idea for a thread Marty (as others have already commented). Find myself agreeing with many of the nominations... John Paul Jones - Zeppelin. Campbell & Tench - Heartbreakers, Mick Taylor - Stones. Two I'd like to...
Cable Cooking/Burnin
Yping - I'm certainly a believer in (what I call) a "settling in" process for cables and electronic audio components in general. For cables, I do think this can be accelerated by various burn-in or cooking treatments. I'm not convinced, however, t...
Admittedly a bit lost
You wrote: "With those constraints, my dilemma is that I don't know if I should be trying out high-efficiency speakers or low-efficiency ones? Should I look for 8ohm speakers or 4ohm ones? Something tells me that with low power tube amps, I should...
Parasound A21 or Odyssey Stratus
I'd like to throw a 3rd option into the mix, and that is the Merrill Audio Taranis. Just posted a review of it. Was considering a new power amp myself and the A21 was on that list. Went with the Class D Taranis. 100K input impedance and running it...
Is it possible to adapt kt88 to a 6A3 single ended
Found the 10-19 post below on the "Designer Hall of Fame" thread started in '08. Now if we only knew OV, might have a clue what's going on with this line of inquiry.10-19-15: RealdealOV,who designed tube rectified OTL,using DHT tube as an OPT or a...
floor speakers upgrade
Hi J...consider browsing the used stuff here to get an idea what some of your options might be. Also, explore the "Budget" virtual systems. Posting your other equipment will help people give you some more relevant suggestions but Zd542 is absolute...
Audio grade USB cables
Yup...the signal leg of the Doukmall USB cable plugs into a USB port on your computer. The power leg gets plugged into a 5V AC to USB power adapter as used for charging cell phones, etc.. This must be purchased separately but they're pretty ubiqui...
Audio grade USB cables
I followed Willie's advice (he's posted about this elsewhere) and bought from Doukmall on ebay (Chinese). The first cable they sent was dead but they replaced it even before they received the cable I was returning. It works fine and was quite a bi...
What is your favourite Coltrane album ?
Inna - I think the 3 you mention are good places to start. Something not mentioned so far (at least give a listen to it on Tidal or Spotify): Coltrane Live at the Half Note "One Down, One Up". Has great ambiance.
Anybody into 80s big music?
Hey Phasecorrect - does Tears for Fears qualify?
