Thanks for the recognition, Frogman. "Writing clarifies thought." Not sure who first said that but Lord knows I need lots of clarifying. More than trying to win a debate, I really am interested in where Rok is coming from with his statements. I ex...

There is no relationship between ’knowledge’ and ’taste’. Music is neither good or bad, until it reaches the ear/brain system. Rok - You sincerely believe those statements as absolutes? Or are you being your (sometimes) trademark-provocative-and-t...
Looking For A Subwoofer
Wonder if the OP finally made a purchase.  Did get a pair of SB1000s.  Am happier than the proverbial pig with how things are sounding.

"You got bad taste Ghosthouse...".Oh, I definitely got questionable taste from time to time and I could give you examples but won't!  But that's the whole point about hanging out with people that know more and have better taste.  Maybe some of tha...

O - Yes, "Scarborough Fair" is good music. But lo these many years after I first heard it, it no longer has the same emotional impact. The Brian Wilson on the other hand, almost as old to me, still packs an emotional wallop. Dunno why one do and o...
Tell Us about an Album That Took a Long Time to Grow on You
Good idea for a thread, rebbi. One that immediately came to mind: The Finn Brothers’ "Everyone Is Here". I was a big Crowded House/Neil Finn fan. Still am. When first purchased, EIH was a disappointment. Not sure how long it took, but eventually t...

As per dbtom2, check out the new Dragonfly Black (v1.5) or Red from Audioquest.  They were developed specifically to work with phones.  ALSO, check out Schiit Modi 2.The Black v1.5 and Modi2 are in your price range and should do what you want.
Will changing gain affect frequency response?
Rodman - Absolutely no need to apologize. Those Fletcher Munson curves were new to me so you added to my little store of audio knowledge. Thanks for taking the time. Czar - Interesting analogy.  I think I get your point applied to gain settings.
Will changing gain affect frequency response?
Thanks, Al.  Does sound like there are few possible hardware-based explanations for what I thought I heard.

Thanks, Acman. Chestnut’s another name new to me. Frogman - good reminder about John Scofield. I have not followed or listened to him in a while. Have A Go Go from 1998 but that’s about it. He’s definitely a superb guitarist though not always enam...
Will changing gain affect frequency response?
Hello again, Erik.  Thanks for your time considering this.  I'm not arguing the F/M curves either....more a case of not sure they explain what I think I hear when gain is increased but volume reset to the original level.
