VAC 160i, any experiences You need a pre amp. I've tried it several ways with several amps and dacs, to me, there is simply no substitute. Others will tell you they like how direct and connected they feel the music is portrayed, but it is not to my taste.
24/192 Wireless Server Naim's latest Uniti series are all capable of 24/192 streaming and have built in DAC's, unless you are madly in love with your present DAC. In addition, you will get streaming internet radio as well. Just an option.
Best Integrated, period. Audiozen and Kiwi, with all due respect......I believe the 69 S/N ratio being mentioned in an above post is an approximate for the PHONO STAGE S/N ratio, not the amp/pre-amp S/N Ratio. My experience with VAC gear leads me to believe that the 69 is...
Mac Mini 2011 with Lion or 2010 with Snow Leopard I have not had the 2011 mac mini in my main rig so i cant give you a side side comparison. Sorry.
Mac Mini 2011 with Lion or 2010 with Snow Leopard External superdrive about $60 bucks. If you are unconcerned about integer mode, get the 2011. Disconnect the external drive when not in use....
Mac Mini 2011 with Lion or 2010 with Snow Leopard Jkontuly, I'll give you my 2 cents although either choice is a good one. Research the DAC you might want to use to determine if it is integer mode capable. If it is, get the 2010, if it is not, get the 2011. There are those out there who are certa...
Mac Mini 2011 with Lion or 2010 with Snow Leopard Two things. If you do not utilize a DAC that requires integer mode to sound its best, i dont believe the OS is materially different performance wise. Some have claimed that Lion sounds better....i cant hear a difference but they are in different s...
VAC Preamp: Is my Phono stage failing? Yo Alonski, hope all is well. I have a pair of low noise 12ax7 tubes that i received from VAC that you are welcome to borrow to see if that will isolate your problem. I currently have a pair of NOS Mullards in my phono section and they sound great...
Evolution Acoustics MMMicroOne Doc77, I have never heard the Evolution Acoustics speakers but everyone keeps raving about the sound....except for you. I typically read a poster's other threads to get an idea about their listening likes and dislikes. I'm not saying you are not c...
Playback Designs MPD-3 Khrys, such as this hobby is.....i have not heard the DCS gear lately....nor when I did hear it was it in a system with which I was familiar. Sometimes we take a pass on all of the equipment in a given system that doesn't strike our fancy, which w...
VAC 160i, any experiences You will love the Phi 200 and the Ren pre. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the setup.
Playback Designs MPD-3 Disclaimer: I have not heard a cd played back through a MPS3 using its in board transport, only my computer to a MPD3 DAC. I'm probably splitting hairs but I consider the MPD3 taking the data fed from a source as RE-sampling to DSD, not upsmapling...
Playback Designs MPD-3 How funny.....it would be less expensive over the long haul if we had a different hobby/passion/addiction. Are you near a dealer? It's worth a listen, whether you are in the market or not. I think as more and more hear what's possible, more manufa...
