DAC as a preamp?
I get a cleaner, less cluttered sound than I had with my Audible Illusions 3b tube preamp in the signal path. I'll always agree with that. One of the few later ones that are analogue domain volume controlled. I prefer this "only if" there’s a c...
Why would 2 schiit aegir amps sound the same as 1?
Why would 2 schiit aegir amps sound the same as 1? Because your Klipsch Forte’s are a easy load for the bridged amps, would have been in favour of the stereo amp if the speakers had a harder load yet still efficient. As a bridged amps looses out in...
CD player reliability.... good and bad.
the shop told me that Sony or Philips made just about all the mechanisms, lasers, Correct there were a couple of Panasonic as well. Later on Sanyo started doing them too, all reliable as well. Here is a major list of just about all cd player and c...

DAC as a preamp?
But I only need to attenuate my volume. Not increase it. So all you need is an attenuator. Not more gain/distortion/colouration that an active preamplifier gives. If you have a digital volume control in a dac, all that does is attenuate the dacs...

You're embarrassing yourself here. Ah, allnoise, your the only one doing thatWe all know you are a fuser, that's why the majority ratio of your post are on boutique fuses, and advocate they are somehow directional in an AC mains path.Like I sai...
Ever wanted to know, what your phono cartridge sounds like dead flat??
I always led to believe the "riaa" is the "reference" curve for all phono cartridges, they all try to get close as possible to it. Might as well go back to tone controls then, if they don't try to follow it.Cheers George
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report
Last night, listened to Rachmaninoff Symphonic Dances (Eiji Oue Minnesota Orchestra) Mind blowingly good, I was mesmerized for the whole 67minsKeith Johnson’s Reference Recording RR96CD, simply stunning!!http://www.soundstagenetwork.com/music/revi...
DAC as a preamp?
Generally, preamp mode on a standalone DAC "is an afterthought". sorry to confuse you No confusion, "an after thought" infers something has been tacked on, this is not the case with dacs digital domain volume controls. As the digital digital volume...

LIKE I SAID THIS BS MUST BE STAMPED OUT AT ALL COST.Like I said, a fanatic. So true. Like I've said many many times.Just get SR to come on here to these pages to back up your snake oil voodoo BS about these AC mains fuses on what they do for th...
Ever wanted to know, what your phono cartridge sounds like dead flat??
Each channel inherently ends up coming in to the other channel, attenuated and reversed in polarity due to the mechanical arrangement. Seems to me this is something dsp could potentially address to some degree. It says it can also fix the "cross t...
Rogue DragoN or Bel Canto Ref600 M
but am intrigued by the hybrid DragoN's. Hi, look at my 3rd post. Not really a hybrid, as it still has opamp buffers to drive the Hypex NC500 amp modules with, the tube buffers are added in front of the opamp buffers just to give sound "tube col...

funny how there’s so much dogged support and descriptions of sound on these $150+ fuses from members who only have a few posts?????LIKE I SAID THIS BS MUST BE STAMPED OUT AT ALL COST.
The guru on fuses:
Why is this still a thing? Because BS must be stamped out at all costs in this industry, to keep this hobby honest.
Cheap hearing aids?
You could just have Exostosis, everyone 20+ has it to a "certain degree", commonly called "surfers ear" or "truckers ear". It’s where the ear canal which is 3/16" to 3/8’ diameter (which is bone with skin over it) grows shut to protect the ear dru...
