CD v Streamed
I’ve only been streaming for a few weeks but noticed that Qobuz - hi-rez included, has fairly substantial compression applied. I witnessed this on pretty much everything I have listened to. It sounds fine at lower volume levels. But turn it up and...
It's time to replace my 2009 factory-modded Wadia S7i with a current R2R DAC.
What is most important and what will deliver best performance is clock synchronization from server to DAC. The dac should be the master, and and sources to be clocked to it.Cheers George

Compression? How about cd vs vinyl. If you look at the dynamic range data base https://dr.loudness-war.info/, vinyl has the better DR figures also, just like the early versions of older cd issues before they get compressed. Where cd kills vinyl is...

Does the Audio Industry Have a Quality Problem?
Does the Audio Industry Have a Quality Problem? Yes in a big way it has a growing problem with numbers of companies that are NOT honest and genuine, which are just in it to separate money from the gullible . These "snake oil" companies have no con...
Should Class A Amps be left on??
I could be wrong about this but I thought that class A amps were least efficient when not driven. This is correct, a pure class-A or very heavy biased A/B still draws the same current from the mains driven or when at idle. Both amps at idle gives ...

Anyone tried aftermarket fuses in the newish Parasound JC1+s
Littelfuse. If you want to spend some extra money they now have audiophile fuses. Stick with the pros. No claims whatsoever for any better sound quality, seems more for medical to me.Just higher glass breaking strength if in mobile conditions.Fanc...

rja Yes there is a thing to watch for and that’s digital reflection (jitter?) this is said to be reduced when the interconnect is no shorter than 1.5mt, I think this would also apply to aes/ebu.Can you link Al’s (rip) post on this please?Cheers...
