LDR Active Preamp - does it exist?
The Burson Buffer is your other option, but your are introducing it's sound into the mix. I would use it after the Lightspeed, between it and the amp. As your Oppo has great output impedance and it would do more good after than before the Lightspe...
LDR Active Preamp - does it exist?
Nguyen, the amps 4v sensitivity is the problem, try this, email the manufacturer and ask is there any way of getting the amps sensitivity to 2v or even 3v will do. It may be a simple thing like change the input tube for a higher gain one.If not yo...
LDR Active Preamp - does it exist?
Nguyen hi, I had a look to see in the user manual what the output of the oppo is at full volume, but it's not stated, hopefully it must be above the standard of 2v. I've been told from a guy who mods them that it is 2.5v. Your amp says on this mai...

Also please give the source name and model as this may be configured to give out more.Cheers George
LDR Active Preamp - does it exist?
Nguyen787 Hi, 4v sensitivity for your amp means it needs 4 v in to get it to go to full level, that means when using a passive you need a source cdp or dac that gives out 4v or greater. It would be far better if the amp were changed to two 2v sens...
Bass leaves after amp warms up?
Fishing716: I just looked at the internals of your M6i amps on Google images and I must say for a 200wrms per channel amp the power supply does look a bit on the thin side to what I would like to see, esspecially the amount of storage caps. And a ...

Bass leaves after amp warms up?
"04-20-13: CsontosQuiescent current is higher when the amp is cold and decreases as it heats up whether the outputs are mosfets or bi-polar. But more so with mosfets than with bi-polar outputs.Csontos (Threads | Answers | This Thread)"Not so with ...
Bass leaves after amp warms up?
Fishing716. What I believe is happening is that when the amp is cold the bias is naturaly low, this does not tax the power supply as much as when the amp has warmed up, and the bias is at it's max adjusted setting. However if the power supply is n...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
For some reason the last paragraph got edited this is how it should read. For speaker cable, for my bass ACI SV12 IB 4cuft 25hz to 150hz I use 4 x 1mm solid core silver per phase. Then for the ML ESL's 150hz to 20khz I use again 4 x 1mm solid core ...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
TelWire (pure copper?) Mogami (pure copper?) This is what I use as well (99.99% copper) but different manufactures, no multi fine strands, but a couple (4-6) of good size solids cores per phase, this combo give me power heft and tightness as well ...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Hi B_limo (Bruce) , thanks for the very concise and accurate review of your new Lightspeed. As for interconnects with it, it is always good to use good quality low capacitance ones from the output to the poweramp, as is the same for tube preamps, ...

Putting it simply. The X series is class A/B The XA series is class AA XA150 will heat up the room much more than a X600 will. Even though the X600 is far more powerful and probably larger.Cheers George
Lightspeed attenuator lithium battery pack
Hi Bruce, just to correct your opening post, to fit the Lightspeed Attenuator the plug has to be 2.1mm (not 2.5) and centre +positive. You have to ask the ebay sellers but most are 2.1mm and + centre but ask just to make sure.http://www.ebay.com/s...
Bandwidth Limitations Of Class D Amps??
No I don't anyone here builds or sell class d amps either. What I said and meant was "there is a vested interset in a Class D amp" Which means "A personal stake or involvement" in that amp.Cheers george
