XLR to RCA Adapter Dilemma
A lot of amps have an opamp on the input to handle the XLR input signals, then come back to the single end after this opamp. Where the rca input bypasses this opamp.I have found this on some big hiend amps. You can imagine that the rca on these am...
Anyone have/ordered the Job 225?
No I have not heard them, and agree they may sound great on the Devore speakers as they are reviewed as being a very easy load and can be driven by a "quoted" 9 watt amp.On another forum a member measured the heat sink temp at 60c on a 23c day dri...
Anyone have/ordered the Job 225?
Sorry to come back again Genjamon, but you don't get it.With your very easy to drive speakers, this amp may I admit sound very good. I'm referring to those here and on other forums that spruik that this amp can do wonders on speakers that are hard...
Anyone have/ordered the Job 225?
Grk: "Hi,I'm using the JOB to power Devore Nines and it is the most dynamic and best bass that I have heard from these speakers!"Hardly supprising, as most of the Devor range are very easy loads, that remains at or above 8ohms, and don't tax the a...
Anyone have/ordered the Job 225?
"Genjamon: Also, it's true the Maggie's would be a hard load." The Magie 3.7 is from what I have found out is very similar to the impedance of the 3.6. That is it's a benign 4ohm load, that even a good reciever will drive. From Absolute Sounds:"Th...
tube amps and electrostatics
Rodman999999 You mis-read my statement on I vs R. I said "that can almost double", the app word being "almost" you read what you wanted to see. And here is the advertised specs of an Australian amp called and ME1500 and yes it can "almost" double ...
tube amps and electrostatics
Sorry but Mosfets can't do current like BJT's can. They can do watts no problem though. Show me published specs on a Mosfet amp that can almost double it's "tested" watts output all the way from 8 to 4 to 2ohms and I'll show you a case for legal a...
tube amps and electrostatics
You forgot to mention Dhcod that they also dive down to below 2ohms as well. And don't go by the Stax published impedance graph, it's fudged quite a bit, we measured it and it's far from what they pictured. Add to that it's capacitive loads and yo...
tube amps and electrostatics
Play yes Atmasphere, but really you and I both know they were not able to give a flat 20hz to 20000hz into those hard loads. They acted more like they had tone controls in them and made the FR look like a dogs hind leg. I have a old friend that ha...
tube amps and electrostatics
Frogman hi, the Moscode 600 you mentioned not being able to drive the ESL's very well. I believe that the Moscode 600 is a hybrid employing Mosfet output stage, even though it has a lot of watts!!, mosfets don't do current like a BJT (bipolar)outp...
tube amps and electrostatics
Here are just two speakers that are not a good match with tube amps the Infinity Kappa 9 and an Acoustat not shown is the phase angles which can make them even worse as seen by the amp. http://www.rageaudio.com.au/index.php?p=1_12Note the low impe...
Which $500 Speaker Next?
Milpai, the Classe CW-150 has an input sensitivity of 1.1v to clip it. Sources these days are 2v and most are even higher than this, the Lightspeed will be at mid position to almost clip the amp. There is no need to get higher sensitivity speakers...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Just thought you owners of the Lightspeed Attenuator would like to know, that it has made it again into 2013 Octobers Stereophile Recommended Components, with the highest $$$ value rating once more.Cheers George
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
I'm very conservative with that statement just in case the interconnect is poor quality high capacitance. I call it like it is and don't try give best possible scenarios only. Here is a simple semi technical explanation. In your case with 20ft, let...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
You could for comparison against the wall wart use one of those small square Duracell 9v Alkaline batteries, or even a rechargable one, it will probably last for 24hrs. Just wire up a 2.1mm dc plug to it (but please make sure + positive goes to th...
