Bladelius-Thor mk3/Leema-Tucana 2/Norma IPA-140?
Speakers? they are to drive into is what needs to be looked at first? So then we can see what kind of load the amps will see and what will suit them?Cheers George
NAD vs. MF Amp - best match best choice?
Etched, to me means well defined leading start to notes or transients, and not softened. If something was edgy I would use the word harsh or hard. But saying that, an etched sounding amp could sound hard in with the wrong speakers or source. EG: I w...
NAD vs. MF Amp - best match best choice?
What I mean by the MF being more etched, is the leading edge of notes are more distinct (etched out) rather than slightly softened (tube'ish)as the Nad would do.Cheers George
NAD vs. MF Amp - best match best choice?
No, whiter rather than darker.Cheers George
NAD vs. MF Amp - best match best choice?
Going on amps of both MF and Nad that I've heard in the past.I would say the Nad sound is a touch darker, euphonic, a plumper soft (tubish)sound, and the MF sound is more etched, tighter, dynamic and whiter sounding. So it will go with your source ...
Solid State Buffer
Koestner hi, I've used this one, ready made for $20 shipped, quite good, all you have to do is give it +15 -15 and earth, these voltages are usually found in most gear. High input impedance 100kohm and good output drivability. http://www.ebay.com/...

"bubbled edges" To me that says you've got a microphonic tube, to do a simple test (without an oscilloscope on a test bench).Take the lid off turn on the whole system. Turn the volume control up around loud level. Get someone to listen close at th...

Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh?
Macs were great back in the old days of the 275 and such. But then they started puting output transformers on transistor amps, crazy, and lost many (and me) who thought they knew what they were doing. Maybe the number cruchers moved in when this h...

Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Back to responding to Lightspeed owners posts, after being sidetracked about my own system which I did in laymans terms, which is far to complicated to explain in full here, and not the right thread either.09-12-14: GracerevI just got the Lightspe...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
I know Grannyring you and Agear love your $6K TRL dude active preamp full of massive coupling capacitors that the signal has to pass through. As you both have come on strong about it very early in this thread once before. It seems there is a bit o...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Maybe then for those people they should be using 100 band parametric equalizers, but then that's just adding even more electronics with their associated colourations and distortions. And then instead of hearing the music in it's "naked glory" we a...

If you are really interested in what I have, or maybe others are, here it is. I won't go into the TT but for my digital source, I only listen to Redbook or HDCD Redbook. The main digital is nothing that you can buy off the shelf, it's 2R2 multibit ...
