Pass X260.8 vs Bryston 7B3 swede58 Pass X260.8 vs Bryston 7B3 with Magnepan 3.7’s. With these speakers, that have a 3 octave spread below 4ohms (that goes down to 2ohm) in the lower mids upper bass. https://ibb.co/MM6HF3C I’d have a tendency to go with the Bi-Polar output...
Thoughts on Active/Passive Speakers? Looking for pros and cons. Thoughts on Active/Passive Speakers? Looking for pros and cons. I've done a lot of this comparing with the same speakers and to me a good quality passive xovers from >200hz sound better (natural) to me in the mids and highs than an active xo...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what? I hate it when people talk about subjects they know nothing about. You need to hate yourself then, as you have no idea about the performance of Class-D even when using GaN Fets into 8 4 2 and 1ohm at it’s "current ability" (wattage doubling) at th...
Schiit CD Transport on the way soon. Great: Keep on them and send another email if they don't reply, I hanging to see what response you get.Cheers George
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what? Don’t have to, the AGD is just GaN based Class-D slid into a "bogus" empty tube envelope, which uses (horror) the base pins for all it’s contacts 🤦♂️And there no way the AGD can do what say the Gryphon Antilion can do into the Alexia, Alex, or XL...
Streamer Advice / Recommendation for Denafrips R2R DAC pmreagan2 Streamer Advice / Recommendation for Denafrips R2R DAC If you stream in DSD for that an ESS base (delta sigma-bitstream) Dac could fair better than an R2R based dac. If you were going for PCM Multibit Redbook 16/44, 24/96 or DXD then yes...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what? Guarantee put a Gryphon Antilion stereo or monoblocks on them and you'll change your mind in an instant. And if you don't there's something seriously wrong.Cheers George
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what? FACT!!!! No way can ANY Class-D compete with doubling of wattage into impedances 8 > 4 > 2 and 1ohm (current ability) like BJT amps Gryphon Antillion, bigger Krell, D’Agostino Boulder, etc etc etc canClass-D "may" not blow up, because of sev...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what? jbhiller I’ve tried a couple class D units. They were good but not great to me. I’m game to try some more. If you can get hold of a Technics SE-R1 flagship or at least it’s cheaper integrated the SU-R1000The SE-R1 addresses the "Achilles Heel" o...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what? ...yes, but is Class D stable into 2 ohms? Sadly not, like good Class-A/B's can be using BJT (bi-polar) output stages, especially in current delivery.Cheers George
Why is science just a starting point and not an end point? Why is science just a starting point and not an end point? How music performs at listening levels is the deciding criteria. In that regard science fails miserably. These two statements in the opening thread, are pre-concieved, and sound like th...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what? Yet again with a personal attack🤷♂️
Fire and smoke damage As I said mktracy I’ve used it many times on many repairs never had a so called "caustic problem" with it.https://www.wd40.com/products/contact-cleaner/Cheers George
Fire and smoke damage WD-40 is fine for this soot removal, used it many times in blown up amps that have smoked up, and it eventually dries out completely. Should never be used as a lubricant, as it only lubes while it is wet.
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what? There you go again, do you not get it? YOU ATTACK PERSONALLY !!!If you have none, try giving some electronic technical proof for your arguments quoted from someone else, instead of attacking personally. |
