Lay Off the Newbies!
Who are you quoting there?.. the other two are mine but I can't find that on the page. Any newbie that goes down that path
New/Used Amp recommendations for about $3k-$4k?
todd1010 OP I’m looking some new Paradigm Founder Series 100f speakers and would like to get rid of my Emotiva UPA-1 mono blocks for something else. The 100F’s drop to 3ohms around 100hz, but!! are also -45 degrees phase angle there too, which mea...
Lay Off the Newbies!
My advice to any newbie would be don't be afraid to ask the questions Good There are no stupid questions Also goodThere are no stupid grandiose claims about thingsNot so good for a newbie to post, especially if if directed at "snake oil" prod...
Fear of volume control
Wow! What a difference. the room shook with the orchestra and organ at full tilt. Music always sounds better at the normal volume it would be live (if your total system/room can handle it)Cheers George
Amp keeps shutting off
I had a Schiit Vidar used as a monoblock If he has stereo amps bridged into monoblocks, then there’s the answer.Don’t know how many times I’ve said this to the Odyssey monoblock crew, a bridged stereo amp is worse in all amplifier specifications ...
Amp keeps shutting off
oedstrom11 OP The Klipsch Epic CF 2. OK easy as pie to drive, go way back to my first post and do what I said.Cheers George
Amp keeps shutting off
After trying search all posts to find what speakers the OP has, I believe it’s the speakers, causing amp shutdown. As every post the OP does says nothing about what speakers he has, mentions models of everything else, the only thing said by the OP...
What speaker has the best tweeter?
theaudiotweak Nice looking tweeter, any idea what they are worth?Cheers George
Is D for Dry? Class D...
Jeff Rowland is reading...and taking notesHe doesn't have to take notes, as NO WAY you’d see JR doing high wattage/current signal transfer through those sorts of contacts, EVER!.Cheers George
Is D for Dry? Class D...
OK Sunshine. What’s the issue with tube pins? I own 70+ year old Western Electric Amps and 300B tubes and have never had issues with tube pins, sure sockets can get loose but that’s a one minute fix and tube pins are easy to clean. What AGD has do...
Amp keeps shutting off
oedstrom11 This thing will turn into fault mode so quick once turned up. Sounds like the bias has drifted, and the thermal cutout is activating. Send it back for service with your explanation details of it reaching cutout stage.Cheers George
Dagostino hd momentum, is lack of rubes a problem?
like a high altitude with lower air resistance, ie. why jets fly high in air. By jove, me thinks he’s got it👍Imagine 4 lanes of traffic now going into 40 lanes, yahoo time to put the foot down!! https://ibb.co/r7GfcJ2Cheers George
Dagostino hd momentum, is lack of rubes a problem?
So why do ohms ratios increase from source to pre and then to amp and then to speaker.thanks Output should be low, so they can drive unimpeded into high impedance.Imagine a traffic jam caused by 10 lanes coming into 1, that’s like a high output im...
Dagostino hd momentum, is lack of rubes a problem?
Is that output imp on preamp side and input on amp side?never have understood impedance Source output impedance to pre input impedance, and pre output impedance to amp input impedance (and to a degree, amp to speaker as well)All need the 1:10 or ...
Dagostino hd momentum, is lack of rubes a problem?
So confusingis impedance matching meaningful? How does it work? It said but undocumented and I agree, to use a minimum of 1:10 min ratio. (output impedance into input impedance) 1:20 even betterCheers George
