Advice on CD transport
Especially when my darling wife thinks nothing of spending $200 on hair and nails on a regular basis. Yeah!! you gotta turn a blind eye to that one, otherwise it end in no goodies for hubby, or worse a divorce.Cheers George
MC7270 vs Bridged MC202's
Bridged anything is a backward step for sound quality, compared to the same amp in stereo. You only gain wattage bridging an amp, everything else that makes a stereo amp good takes a hit when you bridge.Cheers George
spend on the streamer or on the DAC ?
Dac (no question)
Theoretical Pre Amp Question
PS Audio Gain Cell varying gain instead of attenuating signal. Trouble with that one your usually varying the feedback to give your different gains and that in it self is "changing the sound" of that gain section.More feedback less gain (low...
Theoretical Pre Amp Question
Simple fact is, the more gain stages that aren’t needed and have, the more distortion and noise you introduce.Be nice if a source had an output stage with enough voltage gain and current to drive a speaker direct. (a smart manufacture could easil...
Theoretical Pre Amp Question
If a source has a choice of high (2V) or low (1V) output, then at typical listening levels the pre amp will be attenuating the signal to much less than 1V. Which source output level SHOULD be better? Always best use all the source has to offer (2...
Advice on CD transport
The new CXC I got with haggling, in Aus cost me $490aud that’s $353usd!!!! this is why it’s the best bang for buck so far. Until hopefully (ex Theta) Mike Moffat of Schiit Audio gets into gear with this resurgence of CD transports needed on the ma...
Why I enjoy my Luminous Audio passive unit, vs an additional gain stage ( preamp )
I have listened to passive units with transformers and find them to be round and colorful, meaning they are warm and the frequency extremes seem rolled of. They are not as detailed to me. This is very true MrD of TVC passives (transformer volume ...
AMC 2100 or Emotiva UPA-200
One of these AMC CVT-3030MkII integrated EL34 based tube amps sounded very nice to me in a friends small system, be nice if you could pick one up used somewhere in the US.http://www1.amchome.com/files/Manual%20CVT3030MKII%20(21R-C3030II_S8)%20v01....

I really wanted to dislike D'Agostino
1: Let's see 🙄? Nah never asked you for it, couldn't give a 2: That's just what you do, "maybe" without knowing it. (nah, nobody's that   )  Thanks for using your main account this time????????Your just dreaming up dirt, (once again) if you beli...
I really wanted to dislike D'Agostino
You know what your slyly doing Eric, as others have also said, just give it a rest.  People here start threads on equipment for good reasons, you single out certain brands and do the opposite, trying your best to start controversy about particular...
I really wanted to dislike D'Agostino
I have to admit I have only heard full Krell stacks, and that this could very well be possible. This statement is what should have been put in the title post, and possibly the thread never been even started as a thread topic in the first place, j...
Why I enjoy my Luminous Audio passive unit, vs an additional gain stage ( preamp )
My passive is single ended, and I am fine with it. Given everything you say, which is quite informative, still leaves me with 2 conclusions. The 1st is, balanced lines are useful, and necessary, when the lines are long, and / or there is an abun...
