XLR or RCA for my new DAC I use XLR as my preamp is balanced and I get more gain. If single ended, I would use RCA.
Paying with a cashiers check? Need advice! I have dealt with a few old school folks who only wanted a check. I used to sell watches and I only accepted wire transfers. Life is a risk.PS I should read the responses before posting as I see it has been sold.
Help me tame my out of control bass The cat found the sweet spot. Dang, I just saw the millercarbon already pointed this out.
Replacement for 802 D3s With your ACS100 I assume you use Roon and would be able to tweak annoying frequency area in DSP. Not trying to change your mind about buying new speakers, just troubleshooting what the issue is. You did not mention any room treatments, nor if you...
The Weekend I thought the Weeknd was excellent. Good to see modern R&B chosen as genre along with a performer from this Century. Silky smooth voice. Creative in what he did with social distancing and covid. Like how he integrated his stance on superficial...
Who else is using old cables/interconnects, and is happy? I have stuck with my Kimber KCAG silver interconnects since the late 90's. Same goes for my double runs of Dynaudio OCOS speaker cables. So close to 25 years of use and I look forward to another 25 years. Really happy with my cables.
How to go about collecting Classical Music The Living Stereo 60 CD collection first volume is quite good. It is fairly diverse and is audiophile approved, all tube recording from the late 50's and 60's. Also the Mercury Living Presence Edition 1 a 50 CD set is tremendous. Both of these co...
RIP Tony Rice Sad news. Early 90’s visiting DC and looked up clubs in yes the “yellow pages”. Went to the original Birchmere in Alexandria VA and Tony stood in for a band member of the Seldom Scene. Tony was fresh off the plane after recording the Pizza Tapes w...
I knew room treatments were in my future. The room sim application inside of Room EQ Wizard is quite helpful for determining optimal speaker placement to minimize room modes. GIK is an excellent source for information on both their website and their service. You can make excellent panel...
Should people who can't solder, build or test their speakers be considered audiophiles? An audiophile is a lover of music. Yes, I have built headphone amplifiers, many cables and repaired pre-amps and amps; however, IMO that does not make me any more appreciative of listening to music. I took my daughter to the Seattle Symphony when ...
Do you like your speakers aimed directly at each ear or.... For me, with my VMPS RM-30's speakers I toe in so I can see about 1 to 2 inches of the inside.
Another streaming newbie I am a PCM guy. I use Qobuz (lots of 24bit 96KHz) through Roon using Roon’s free operating system ROCK (linux based) and a NUC 7i5 computer with a $100 case so no fan noise. You build yourself using the guide on the Roon site. If you can follow in...
Lifespan of amps and preamps? Nice system and if you are happy then good on you. You also know that the equipment was cared for. If the capacitors are not swollen, or leaking you should be fine. There is some good input concerning a good DAC and streaming. Consider looking i...
Who buy PS AUDIO ? Yes, Paul is a class act. IMO the Perfect Wave MKII DAC is one of the best bargains in the used market. It is PCM and most folks are enamored with DSD and their DirectStream which I am sure is outstanding. Their jitter reduction “digital lens” tec...
Looking for best streamer without DAC under $3500 Not sure about "best", I only know I am using a NUC7i5 with the ROCK operating system (provided for free by Roon) housed in Akasa Newton S7 Fanless case for 7th Generation Intel NUC Boards. It was challenging building, but fun and if you can follo... |
