Hum from Grado on LP12.. Better carts to consider?
I don't have cable, but I do have noisey AC power. I can hear my Braun coffee maker's thermostat cycle on and off! I also have an FM transmission tower about a mile away.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Lewm and Pryso thank you for your gracious responses. I will start researching. The first cartridge I bought was a Shure M91ED for my AR (in the '70s) and after that an Ortofon Concord 30 for a budget table. I still have the Ortofon laying around ...
Dynavector 20 Xl , Benz Micro Ace SL or Denon
Thanks for this thread, as I have been considering the Dynavector 20X and the Benz Ace, both in the HO versions. I have an LP 12 with the Ittok arm.
Hum from Grado on LP12.. Better carts to consider?
Thanks All. The Lyra sounds like a good fit, but the Dorian costs about $1100. It must have to do with exchange rates, because I remember it was around $750 a few years ago. Maybe there is presently better value in the Japanese AT for the same rea...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
If someone (me) just wandered into this thread and wanted to know whether to buy a new MM or MC cartridge, where in the 1000+ posts should I look? I can't possibly read them all with my slow internet connection. I'm looking for a new cartridge so ...
Celestion Ditton 44 Speakers
Back to the Cambers - I have the 3.5 ti's. The imaging is unbelievable. They totally 'disappear'.
Stereo Separation - Turntable
For what it's worth, I have the Mobile Fidelity 'Original Master Recording' CD version of 'Somthin' Else' (AAD) and it is the best-sounding CD I own (as presented by my Meridian 508). It is definitely the hard-pan version, but I love this album! I...
Top Ten Tuners of all Time??
Thanks Brian. General advice to all A'gonners (sic)...read all the posts. I happened upon this thread while researching an amp, but I just had to send a quick note because of my experience. I guess it was a response more to a certain magazine than...
Top Ten Tuners of all Time??
The Magnum Dynalab FT101 Etude taught me that Sereophile Recommended Components lists were to be approached with a huge crystal of salt. I bought a Fanfare rated 'A' by Stereophile and was disappointed, so Frank at Audio Outlet sent me the Etude (...
Anyone talked to Dean from PSE?
Yes it probably was one of the most frustrating experiences I've gone through. But the amps sound even better as they burn in. Dean said he did not use some 'super parts' which were not as important to the sound as the upgrade and which could be ea...
Anyone talked to Dean from PSE?
Good news! I finally received my Studio V amps. Dean did the upgrade and repairs at no charge, but it took 21 months and a lot of polite harrassment on my part. The amps sound better than ever, and I am grateful to have them back. If you ever need...
Which cartridge for Linn Akito II ? Ittok LVII ?
Hi Simon,I think I have enough motivation to try that. But wow-Yew-now there's a beautiful wood, also very dense. As for PC, I think you're OK. The native Pacific Yew is a little too 'wild' for the urban landscape and no longer needed to make taxo...
Which cartridge for Linn Akito II ? Ittok LVII ?
Thanks again Simon. By the way the rosewood is un-fluted and gorgeous. As the son of a 50's/60's era carpenter and (not so great) sporatic woodworker myself, I know my rosewood. Absolutely not PC in today's world as the heartwood of the oldest of ...
Which cartridge for Linn Akito II ? Ittok LVII ?
Thanks Guys. Your insights have been educational and of great help to me. I'll stick with the Grado for now. As an intereting sidelight, I called Grado when I purchased the used LP12 (44--- real Rosewood) with the Grado about 10-12 yrs ago to ask ...
Where Can I go From an LP-12/Ittok LV II/Lingo
I'm confused about the Ittok LVII vs Akito II. My dealer said that Linn considers the Akito an upgrade from Ittok. Any opinions?
