Bad news for audiophiles?
oregonpapa1,205 posts10-15-2016 1:23amI’ve always liked this quote:"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten."it would be nice if there was a Standard of Quality in the industry. That way there woul...

Does the magnetic levitating platter make all other designs superfluous. No bearings!
brucegel OP145 posts10-14-2016 2:23pmGeoffkait is correct. But this may be a hurdle less high to jump than previous designs. The question is how serious are they in perfecting this concept.Do they have the engineering chops to do it right.audiophile...

brucegel OP144 posts10-14-2016 2:16pmWait till you see the whites of its eyes or the levitation of the platter yourself.Oh and I almost forgot...listen to how it sounds.Compared to what?

There is no balm in Gilead. A perfect isoaltion methodology or technique actually doesn’t exist. The negative stiffness, the mag lev, the mass on spring, the air bearing, they all have their Achilles heel (s). And they tend to allow the lowest fre...

I missed Dylan’s recent album of Frank Sinatra covers. Maybe the Nobel committee can consider recognizing Ol Blue Eyes the next time around. But he's got high hopes, he's got high hopesHe's got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

noromance383 posts10-14-2016 11:22amNo snark intended. Funds that would yield better results on other components end up going into expensive cables to compensate weaknesses in the system.Uh, pretty sure you’re supposed to spend the excess funds on...
Do equipment stands have an impact on electronics?
czarivey3,301 posts10-13-2016 11:51pmif equipment stands will have direct impact on electronics than perhaps electronics will be destroyed.the mind is a terrible thing to have. Better lay off the bud.

Is this a joke? It’s getting very hard to tell. I just got punked over on another thread by some mag lev turntable. Did you get punked too? This sounds more like it’s in the perpetual motion machine category.

theaudiotweak1,371 posts10-13-2016 4:58pmUnless the device is properly grounded it will suffer from shear wave interference and the resulting inefficiencies..even if it floats in air.No it won't. That's what damping is for. By inspection the frequ...

Good one. Duh! That's almost as good as the CD rewinder.

For starters mag lev for audio, even audio turntables, has been around like forever. Hiw long has the Mag Lev Verdier turntable been around? Gotta be twenty years. And the Verdier has a really heavy platter to boot. Ditto the Relaxa Mag Lev iso st...
