Most Important, Unloved Cable...
Ah, the controlled double blind test rears its ugly head. One wonders why it took so long. What is it about negative blind test results not meaning anything don't people get? Hmmmm...🙄
Why are tweeters so high off of the ground in many tower speakers...
I believe it was none other than Pierre Sprey of Mapleshade who said that the location for best sound was sitting on the floor. Of course you can also argue that many listener positions are right smack dab in the middle of a standing wave. No matt...
Why are tweeters so high off of the ground in many tower speakers...
Speaking frankly, I'd much rather have the midrange driver at ear level than the tweeter. Especially if I was listening to CDs. 😛
Bybee IQSE on top of SR T Base UEF
Below find an Excerpt from the Dagogo review of the new Jack Bybee product. The reason I’m posting this is to point out that not only does the author make excellent points regarding new technologies but that in some cases the explanations for them...
Why don't amplifier Companies use high end fuses?
Hey, look on the bright side. At least your motor didn't start running in reverse. Or did it? âš™
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D
Ah, so you're saying vertical tracking angle is not geometry. Interesting.
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D
Due to the variation in thickness of the LP the geometry of the cartridge/tonearm changes significantly, enough to produce 1/10 degree change in geometry in some cases. Don’t they have on-the-fly geometry adjustment gizmos?
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D
There was an article on cartridge/tonearm geometry and its relationship to distortion. As I recall if the geometry was off by as little as 1/10 degree in any direction the distortion would double. That's why the geometry should (ideally) be change...
Current pricing for a modded SA7S1
I kind of doubt the market for CDs is shrinking since the market is mostly comprised of teenagers. 👫
Why are tweeters so high off of the ground in many tower speakers...
Depends on the radiation pattern. One assumes the on axis response of the speaker measures or at least sounds flat when the listener is seated. There are so many room acoustics factors that complicate frequency response of any speaker as to almost...
Bybee IQSE on top of SR T Base UEF
The SteinMusic Harmonizer incorporates at least one crystal, a resonator, as does the new Bybee thingamabob. Gee, could there be a connection? 😳Note to self: Gosh, have crystals finally gone mainstream?
Directionality of wire
Ouch! Good one, Zippy!
Why is good, deep bass so difficult? - Myths and their Busters
Yamamura used to make some very elegant limited slip plate thingamabobs for speakers. You can actually knock them off if you know what you’re doing. Limited slip plate devices offload excess energy from the speaker cabinet by converting that energ...
Why is good, deep bass so difficult? - Myths and their Busters
I don’t know but I have a sneaking suspicion nobody ever ran curves for anything from the listening position. That’s not something in an audiophile’s bag of tricks. 👜 What audiophiles do is try something. Listen. Move it a little. Listen again. Tr...
Turntable and Rack vibration control
As I just posted on another thread about vibration the usual damping techniques, especially those employing soft rubbery materials, often fail to accomplish the mission. What is really needed for these stubborn cases is a method that allows the me...
