Why Does All Music Sound the Same; An Explanation
Uh, dynamic range is a ratio. Loudness is not a ratio. Loudness I.e., level is what the remastering engineer can boost since the peaks of dynamic range will be lower when he compresses it. You wouldn’t want to blow up someone’s precious iPod, woul...
Why Does All Music Sound the Same; An Explanation
Music is all about dynamic range. Nothing else matters. So you’re right! It all sounds the same.
Have you ever downgraded deliberately?
Downsizing whilst maintaining some semblance of sound quality was a good move for me. Low cost, low mass, low distortion, low stress.

elizabeth, I’m so pleased to hear you actually DO agree with me. Disagreement and I clash. 😃
Audioquest Carbon HDMI cable
I have the Audioquest Carbon HDMI Cable between an LG Blu Ray and LG HDTV. SUPERB picture quality, like film really. Of course a big advantage of the Carbon is it’s controlled for directionality as are the other Audioquest top of the line cables. ...

Lizzie, now that your system has matured, and you’ve added a lot of new wall plates and other stuff, do yourself a big favor and remove all ferrites from the system. Then listen. Even better put all the ferrites on appliance power cords, fridge, c...

Excalibur, a high end salon in Alexandria, Va, which boasted a bunch of audiophile goodies, the Infinity Reference Monster speaker system, Martin Logan, at least four rooms with various systems and great selection of audiophile CDs and LPs, closed...

Nice to see I got an honorable mention in the wiki audiophile page under controversies. Stones. I’ll take it!

As much as I eschew disagreement I feel obliged to say ferrites on audio related cables only hurt the sound, except in very limited cases. However ferrites, the nice big kind, do quiet nicely on appliance power cords.

Treated my interconnects with Deoxit D5 today
Stabilant 22 is good. So is Cramolin. Quicksilver Gold and the new Graphene contact enhancer are better. Been there done that.
Treated my interconnects with Deoxit D5 today
Tweek sucks. It has a propensity to turn blackish green fairly quickly. Kontact is good. But they are both cleaners/conditioners, not really what we’re talking about here. Cramolin was good, too.
Platter mat insanity
If the platter rings when you strike it with something don’t strike it while music is playing. Even better isolate the table. Then the platter won’t ring.

Try reversing the interconnects. You never know. Whatever you change something or take fuses out or clean connectors always mark everything so at least you put things back the way they were. Keep a log and take photos.

glupsongeoffkait"However, there seems to some controversy as to whether that’s Fabio or Michael Green in the photos."Funny one. I guess practice does make perfect. However, there is no way it is not Fabio. The room does not look boobytrapped.>&...
