Differences between cd transports?
astelmaszek71 posts03-05-2019 10:03am@geoffkait Cables are directional. LOL. Settling time. I'm in the wrong business but of course I can't bring myself to that level of detachment from reality. >>>>You appear to be enjoying an out of ...
Differences between cd transports?
Not the be argumentative but level is critical with or without springs. Obviously springs make it easier to balance and level. I actually distinguish between balance and level, now that you bring it up since you can balance a thing on springs yet ...
System sounds better at night?
A lot of RF is airborne, that why cell phones work indoors, and generated by microprocessors in electronics so power conditions isn’t going to help that. Just saying.
Differences between cd transports?
There are quite a few variables that make comparing transports tricky. The spinning disc should be absolutely level during play. When switching transports connecting cables require settling time, maybe a day or two, before judgements regarding sou...

No solar flare or sunspot activity at night, much reduced seismic vibration due to automobiles, buses, subways, less cell phone activity.
Vibration Isolation
By my calculation 800 pounds would be required to optimally load 4 pads, assuming the calculations in the previous post are correct.

The Science of Cables
One assumes this all falls under the category of talking, not the category of walking.
Headphones? I could use your experience/thoughts.
Another thing about Grados, at least the SR-60 and SR-80, removing the horrid foam ear pads results in much better sound. What is needed is some sort of thin ear-friendly material to replace the foam. I’m still looking. But, oh, the sound! Check i...

Is it true that musicians can’t really hear as well as the average person? Is it because of high sound pressure levels in the orchestra pit or on stage?
Do posters intend to hurt the feelings of other members?
And much less of any interest happening over there, I think it’s safe to say. It’s a trade-off. 😛
I’m gob smacked. What were you’re aha moments?
One thing to keep in mind. This colored magnet thing is really an illustration of the power of COLOR with respect to sound quality, not so much the power of MAGNETISM since the colored discs are actually very low magnetism. It doesn’t help to use ...

OK, Here goes nothin’This is the page for colored 3/4” ceramic disc magnets from the PWB Electronics web page. Keep in mind these are only slightly magnetic. The real PWB Magnadiscs are treated but you can do pretty well with stock ceramic magnets...

Colored magnets is where it’s at. Uncolored magnets are what we call a local maximum. It’s kind of a long story. The applications are very specific. Not Willy Nilly. Maybe later. But I’m glad to see some people experimenting.
