Vibratory or Not?
Whoa! What! When did I break away from the four fundamental interactions? Them’s fighting words! I embrace the four fundamental interactions. Let me ask you a question or two. Which fundamental interaction is seismic vibration? How about acoustic ...
Forking from the cables thread to a discussion of whether hi-res is audible.....
There it is! I wuz wondering how long it would take for blind testing to raise its semi handsome head. As per usual it’s in the form of a challenge - Betcha can’t hear it in a blind test! Biomechanical sensitivity? Whoa! What?
Component isolation
Yet another t shirt reads, “If I could explain it to the average Joe they wouldn’t have given me the Nobel prize.”
Constrained layer damping tape on toroidal transformer?
My solution is multi pronged. Remove bolts or at lease loosen them. The only purpose for the bolts as far as I can see is to hold the transformer when the component is shipped.  Place the transformer on pure natural cork square, thickness 0.25” Ne...
6h30 tubes dampers to replace Audio Research ones
+1 Not only that, but all (rpt all) other Tube dampers hurt the sound 🤕, including but not limited to silicon rings, ebony dampers, brass dampers, Swiss Ensemble woven copper sleeves, Tube Socks, and Tube Coolers (metal fins). Almost all dampers r...
Vibratory or Not?
It all hinges on how one defines the word vibration. And on how one defines the audio signal. So, unless everyone agrees on terms, which I actually don’t see happening, it will always be a Tijuana stand-off. One way to figure out if vibration isol...
Constrained layer damping tape on toroidal transformer?
Geez, you’re still trying to argue that? Get real!
Constrained layer damping tape on toroidal transformer?
Uh, the transformer is not “live”. I use mu metal to wrap transformers and trust me, mu metal is conductive.Even if the transformer was “live” which it's not, you could wrap it with constrained layer damping tape since the non-conductive viscoelas...
The Science of Cables
No. We are ignoring glubson.
Constrained layer damping tape on toroidal transformer?
Place the viscoelastic material under the transformer. Thus it will be constrained by the transformer. Loosen or remove bolts to isolate it from the chassis. Problem solved! 🤗
The Science of Cables
Actually atomic particles are referred to as nanoscale, like the data on a CD. Besides it’s not really true that quantum mechanics only applies to things on a very small scale. That’s a common misconception. That’s what the Schrodinger Cat thought...
Vibratory or Not?
I only ask good questions. Let’s see if someone gets the right answer. 😛
How much do we at A'gon influence the industry?
larry572976 posts03-22-2019 11:27amTo Jeffkate:Please explain.  Are you saying to look up any of the stereo gear at Wikipedia to see if they list it to be audiophile quality.  I have never used Wikipedia so far so I must still live in the dark age...
Vibratory or Not?
Of course, the $64K question is whether the audio signal in electronics is vibratory. Everybody and his brother agrees the acoustic waves in the room produced by the speakers are vibratory. The reason that’s the $64K question for those who haven’t...
Isolation feet/cones for PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC
Not sure I get how DH Cones can move with adhesive. Or how a DAC or preamp can move for that matter. Oh, well...RBJrs a bit wobbly by design? Interesting..... 😬
