Bought them last week?   It can take weeks before all that new equipment burns in!  Its not going to reach its potential until it does.  Just adding one piece of new equipment into a broken in system will take it down a notch.  When everything is ...
Class D = Trash?
NuPrime changes everything.... Amps = NuPrime ST-10 NuPrime STA-9... NuPrime STA 6. They have also a great line of integrated amps. These have a sweetness to them that most other class D’s can not touch.http://www.nuprimeaudio.com/index.php/produc...
Have ~$10-12k...what would you do?
I would spend about about 3-4,000... and save the rest.   I would invest in a high end power conditioner. (like and Audience Adept)  For, more money does not get you better, unless what you already have, is being made the best it can be.
Absolute Sound - do we really need another review like this?
Irony of ironies....    Both Absolute Sound and Stereophile did such a fantastic job in educating and creating a group of highly informed audiophiles, that they rendered the need for their publications to become no longer needed... in many ways. B...
Anticables
I have experience with AntiCables.  The design eliminates a distortion that is produced typically by multi stranded cables in signal transfer.  There is a fuzzy quality that can be heard on systems that have enough transparency to unmask this effe...
Why does it take so many hours to brea in arc preamps and amps?
>> "I have yet to hear a tube amp that sounds as good after 5 minutes than it does after 1 hour let alone 4 hours." <<<I think you are confusing 'warm up time' with the process of 'burning in - breaking in.'  Warm up time may take ...
Why does it take so many hours to brea in arc preamps and amps?
Its not just ARC equipment. I was told by a modifier who replaces mediocre components with high quality ones, that quite often the best ones take longer to break in. Now, if I could not hear it for myself? I would call it marketing BS. But, what e...
what the heck is a Namiki DF-100 Direction Finder
You will need to open the unit and make sure a 9 volt battery is connected. First thing you do is to connect the alligator clip to some part of exposed chassis, or a ground connection if available. I usually loosen a screw attached to the chassi...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
Cables will make a difference...but, depending. Not by reason of the higher price, by default. It all depends on how precise and well set up your system is. How much transparency potential it has to begin with. And, it involves a lot more than jus...
What tonearm will better mine?
A tone arm can be a weak link.   Your's is not!   The Decca is an excellent, but very finicky cartridge!   If its working well?  That means your arm has to be excellent.  Leave it alone.   I have destroyed Deccas not using a tonearm that will work...
Would increasing the gain in the amp give more weight to the sound? Any negatives?
Try reversing the polarity of your speaker cables. You might discover that your system is reversing the polarity, and by flipping the speaker cables, you suddenly hear a richer sound. My system needed it. And, the one before that did too.
The most transparent speaker cable
The most transparent cables will let you know what your speakers and electronics really sound like.... They will be the most neutral cables.  If your amplification is not transparent?  You may blame what you hear on the transparent cables if you t...
What Does a Cartridge Compliance/Tonearm Mass Mismatch Sound Like?
It does not have one possible sound. You can have a cartridge too stiff for a very low mass tonearm. It will cause some resonance in the interaction between the stylus and the arm mass. And, you can have a cartridge too compliant for a tone arm wi...
Solid core Versus Stranded Speaker cables
Not often discussed... The benefits of both solid and stranded?   Litz cables. Solid core gets rid of the harshness, but has a way to dull the leading edge a bit.  Stranded with its weaknesses, makes the highs harsher, giving the illusion of great...
I used to think passive preamps were superior to active preamps given right the setup, but
The best preamp is no preamp?...  Possibly... but only if the recording was perfect and recorded in an ideal space with phenomenal room acoustics.   Otherwise?  I still prefer Technicolor movies over the plain variety. I know..  Not real... But,  ...
