What length digital cable? I cannot tell the difference in sound quality between 1/2M and 1M digital cables in coax (haven't tried 1/2 M AES/EBU). And I absolutely guarantee that I can prove that by blind testing myself:>) Cheers. Craig.
Bi-wiring mishap Kubla........bi-wiring like you did is like shaking a bottle of nitro-glycerin because you thought it was "the right thing to do"-- before using it to clean your systems contacts. Hope your G/F really is OK, and sorry about the speakers. Cheers? C...
My overlooked cheap tweak Tsquared; a good reminder thanks. I use the contact cleaner supplied by Sonic Frontiers and it seems to work great. Following cleaning of all wire and terminal contacts, music is just so much more "there".
What s your latest buy? Happy with it? Hi Njonker; slightly off topic but appropriate I think, I just purchased 36 CDs, and one is an absolute gem, Holly Cole's "temptations". Highly recommended for the jazz ballads. Cheers. Craig.
Speaker wire is it science or psychology Stevemj; it's a shame that you're unable to trust your own senses. Craig
Attention Scientists, Engineers and Na-s 70242; It's a shame that you don't trust your senses. Craig
Silver vs. Copper, Effect of length Sean; thanks for the detailed and compelling argument for long speaker cables/short interconnects. I've seen some of them but not all. Now the dilemma..........thanks. Craig
tips for Vandersteen 3A sig Flying; IMO, you are right about the tube amp producing slower and more bloated bass than a good solid state amp. I auditioned an SF Power 2 (110+ wpc) for about a month, and it's supposed to have good bass "for a tube amp", but it could not even ...

Silver vs. Copper, Effect of length Ignatz, Sean; I'm sure you both know that conventional wisdom says you should use the shortest possible spkr. cables and long ICs if necessary. Both R. Vandersteen and S. McCormack recommend this. But I'll say that I really like my 14 ft. Syn. Res...
Cost is no object is easy, but.... Hi Delancy; it appears to me that some of your "used" prices are very optimistic, eg I think the VT100 MK II would realistically be more like $3000, and the Virgos also more expensive.>BR< I would put together a system based around a a McCor...
Remote control for Turntable? Good post Caterham1700. I think you're right on, and I mustered up a smile too. Cheers. Craig.
Plinius SA-250 or Mark Levinson/Krell/Mc Respectfully Patrick, you need to go out and listen to the amps you've mentioned, and make your choice based on music quality/character and not on any sort of implied "pedigree" or cost of component. I have a $5K (MSRP) McCormack DNA-2DX and think...
Is Component "Upgradability" Important ? Hi Mcdh1; it seems to me that upgradeability is most important with components that have rapidly changing (improving) technology, and to me this means digital "stuff", especially DACs, CD players etc. I recently purchased an ML 360S DAC that had b... |
