Replacing Sovtek 6922 for NOS
I've found the relatively inexpensive NOS Sovtek 6922s to be much more liquid, detailed, dynamic, and airy than the stock Sovteks in my SF Line 2SE pre-amp, and much prefer them to Valvos, Brimars, Seimens, and some others. Cheers. Craig
Loading times / problems on Agon ???
Sean; yesterday I typed a long thoughtful response to the thread on "Best Recorded Music" (or something like that). I tried a dozen times or so and could not submit the post???-- finally got ticked off and gave up. That was mid-afternoon PST. Chee...
Help -- my system is too bright
Is the new Krell amp fully broken in?, ie how new is it? I've used Syn Res Master couplers to tame a bit of brightness, and also Syn Res Sig. #10 spkr cables are a warm sounding cable that I like. Good Luck. Craig
Some of my favorite songs are......
I gotta' have ZZ Tops "Girl in a T-Shirt" too. Cheers. Craig

Wash, Cut, Polish & Demagnetize
Buscis2; well stated case, and I agree w/ the above posts too. My experience has been like yours, although I primarily use the Auric Illuminator kit. It certainly does make an audible and worthwhile difference to me, ie music of treated CDs become...
Mark Knopfler's Ragpickers Dream-heard it?
MK certainly has tremendous talent, and I have "Ragpickers Dream" (CD). I liked it, but didn't love it-- will have to try it again. I really like "Golden Heart" though-- is that the right title? Cheers. Craig
Power Amp Tweaking
I agree w/above posts. Controlling vibrations in your amp should tighten up bass and thus also improve mid-range clarity. There are many ways of going about it, you just have to find what works for you. I have my SS amp, that has sorbothane feet, ...
A pair of "warm sounding"6922 tub
The NOS Brimar 6922s are warm/soft when in my Sonic Frontiers Line2SE. The Brimars are relatively inexpensive too. SF probably still has them. Cheers. Craig
Best Thread on Audiogon?
I'm with Brulee. #1 has gotta' be David99's "Who Are You" thread. The threads about Blues, R&R, and other music I like are favorites too, including my own "All time favorite Love Song", and "Music for Tough Times". Redkiwi is also one of my fa...
Sound quality of the Chuck Berry "Anthology" CDs?
Mshan; I don't have the Millenium CD, but do have "Anthology". Sound quality is all over the place and ranges from poor on a few tracks tracks to very good/excellent specifically on "Nadine". However, I would say by far most of the songs are in th...
what's my problem?
I've not owned NHT speakers but did research them at one time, and the 3.3 and 2.9 models were designed to be placed against the wall (don't specifically know about the 2.5is). Also, as noted by Blkdr above, these speakers need a good stout amp to...
Thanks, Audiogon, for the friendships you made
Gingko; nice thought! I too appreciate and enjoy many Audiogon members I've met here. Happy Easter. Craig
Great Rock & Roll speakers?
Fish; I just looked up NHTs for sale, and it's the 2.9 model I was thinking of-- there are at least 3 pair for sale in the Vand. 2Cesig price range. BTW, I've owned 3 pairs of 2Cesigs and my experience was like yours, ie I could get the warning li...
Great Rock & Roll speakers?
NHTs are designed for placement against the back wall and they are known to Rock-- don't know if they have a model in the $1000.-$1500. range. In fact I don't know if they're still in business-- maybe changed hands. There should be some good ones ...
