Turntable Motor Replacement
the motor is chugging on my NAD533. Justs like Rcprinc's mine is holding speed but that noise kills me. And I can hear that noise through the headphones. it's gotta go.I would definitely talk to the seller/manufacturer about the warranty.
A new analog medium
we are seeing a lot of this ignore-the-anti-digital in the analog forums these days.I would say listen for yourself and don't ignore what you hear. There is dogma but if analog is better you will actually hear that. I hear it.BTW, quantization does...
Can I clean my records manually?
Truth is, I would buy an expensive RCM in a heartbeat if I had the cash. Too bad for me. I have been thinking of at least getting the KAB so I don't have to spin by hand at least. And to echo the original poster: "Am I that ignorant? Please, let me...
Can I clean my records manually?
Gregadd,my DIY method uses a vacuum so there sotesibly no dirt left on the record. I think a Loricraft would be more elgant less arduous way to go.You funny: "If you enjoy tinkering more than listening to music by all means build your own."Yeah, I...
Can I clean my records manually?
Dougdeacon,I think the top end stuff like Loricraft with that little string will beat my DIY method ... but you sure gotta go far to do it, doncha?I can't go for the big $Ks on this so it is becoming clear that DIY, once you get the hang of it, is...
Can I clean my records manually?
I think my manual method is better than an RCM. Wiothout going into infinite detail, I use a cake decorating spinner. Cast iron base with metal platter. I use a vacuum with a cutout 'crevice tool'. With the record wet after a washing I run it very...

dual belt pulley - who's got 'em for a P2 or NAD53
I should have been more clear.I need the pulley so I can use two belts simultaneously.33 1/3 and 33 1/3
So...What do you listen to in your car?
hour dive to work so it's jazz at high volume on the CD player all the way.
Best budget cartridge pool
might as well go for the Denon DL-160 Cartridge at only a few bucks more.
MC vs MM - phono cartridge
high output moving coils can be used in moving magnet phon sections [say 39db+ gain]. The Denon DL-160 is under $200 and should last 2-3 years with good vinyl/stylus hygiene. Denon does offer retipping for that model. it inexpensive enough to buy ...
Good way to dampen tonearm?
I have used tape that given to me last year. Not sure if it is Teflon or something else, but i ran the tape from the 'headshell' to just above where the bearing housing is and it made an improvement. Things became clearer, it cured a bit of tensen...
Which would you choose to isolate your turntable?
you could easily get a cut piece of granite, have them polish it, and put some damping on the bottom. mass is what does it.
