Mini Maggie System hurts to listen to I'm not familiar with the "mini", but after looking them up, and seeing how small they are, I'm wondering if you're listening to them more near field in your office than you did at the dealer. Is there any way you can move back away? I have a pair...
Smallish floorstander that sounds good placed just I'm going to recommend two brands on the assumption that you would be willing to hunt down older speakers. Allison, and Snell. In particular, Allison Ones, or Threes, though any of the "CD" series also work well against the rear wall. With Snell, ...
Klipsch La Scala Dilemma I assume the OP was taking room size into account, when was a 12x13 mentioned? Of course, if the intended listening room is not adequate, I wouldn't recommend taking them, but is there any reason they couldn't be used in a "second system"? I have ...
Klipsch La Scala Dilemma I've never heard the Lores... or any Tekton speakers, for that matter, but I've listened to K-horns, Lascalas & Belles quite a bit. Have you ever heard any of the "Heritage" Klipsch speakers? If you like one, I think you'd like the others, the...
Modern day equivalent for KEF 105/3 speakers As good as they are,I'm not sure I'd sink $1500 into a pair if 105/3s, when you can easily find 107s & 107/2s in very nice condition for $800-$1000. I'm a long time 107/2 owner, so I may be biased, but I don't think there is another dynamic sp...
Found some very early Thiels I'm no expert on Thiels, but what makes you think your Conception Electronics are Thiels? Again, I don't know Thiel's history too well, but they don't look like any model I've seen from them, and I didn't see anything in your pictures that led me ...
Suggestions? Planar like Dynamic speaker under 2K I suppose it boils down to what aspects of planar speakers one is trying to replicate, and wich is most important to the listener. To my ears, the smoothness & coherence of sound through wide frequency range is what I treasure above most... an...
Suggestions? Planar like Dynamic speaker under 2K Not meaning to offend, but I couldn't disagree more with you Chandnliz! As a long standing 'stat & planar owner/fanatic - I currently have models from Quad,Acoustat,Sound Lab,Crown(RTR),KLH(Janzen)& Martin Logan , I find the sound qualitie...
Suggestions? Planar like Dynamic speaker under 2K I'd suggest you look at Vandersteens. A new a pair of 2Ci would be a little over budget, but used, you should be able to find a pair, maybe with room for a matching sub ...if you still need more punch.
From pro to hi-fi and a little confused... Honestly, if your looking to maximize your $2k budget, I don't think powered speakers are what you should be looking at. The most "bang for your buck" is going to be a reasonable mix of an amp & speakers... preferably used. If my suggestion of...
Ohm Walsh 2000 vs MMG vs Vandersteen 2ce Sig? WOW! Thanks for that link, I was unaware of HHR. That's VERY cool, too bad they are as pricy as that, but if I were in the $10-20K speaker market, I'd sure give them a listen.I remember auditioning Ohm Fs in the very early eighties... Ohm Acoustic...
Ohm Walsh 2000 vs MMG vs Vandersteen 2ce Sig? Unfortunately, the earliest "pure" Walsh designs (models A & F) are no longer serviced by Ohm. They have made adapters for their newer "cans" to be mounted on the old cabinets, but that doesn't yield a very similar speaker.I'm still wondering ...
Anyone have experiance with KLH-9 power supplies? Yes, that's more or less how I did it... I put it in a roasting pan in the oven! I was really hoping for some information on rebuilding the units or building new ones from scratch. I don't trust the condition of any of the 40+ year old components.
Ohm Walsh 2000 vs MMG vs Vandersteen 2ce Sig? I'm a little confused, and I confess I'm not up on the latest models, which Magnepans are you referring to? MMGs would seem to be the latest version of the old SMG & SMGa models... if so, I think it's a bit odd to be comparing $500 planars wit...
From pro to hi-fi and a little confused... I just looked them up, and Klisch Haeresy IIIs are only $800 NEW! That would leave you $1200 for an amp & cables... now I'm even more confident in my recommendation. LOL!Cliff |
