Jazz for aficionados Mary_Jo..........OK, I need to get to the bottom of this! I always struggle with this when addressing you, so please set the record straight. Which do you prefer? Mary_Jo, mary_jo, or Mary_jo? Perhaps MJ? I have a sister in law with the same name ...

Jazz for aficionados Very nice “Just The Two Of Us” by that kid, Schubert. Plays with a very nice time feel, clean technique and easy touch. Enjoyed it, thanks.https://youtu.be/ctUownP7Kqw
Jazz for aficionados **** Never considered him a ’serious’ Jazz player. ****Probably because much of his work is on the “funky” side. He is a serious Jazz player with a very unique tenor sound. Maybe these will change your mind:https://youtu.be/E3B4locAgDghttps://yout...
Jazz for aficionados Good player, Codrington. My first exposure to his playing was on this other Eddie Harris record which I posted a while back. Probably his best known record, it features Codrington and Harris’ best known composition “Freedom Jazz Dance” which has b...

Jazz for aficionados **** let’s see, you scored points for praising his post, and you scored points for the negative dig at me, you’re moving up the ladder of the "mutual admiration society". ****Orpheus10, I had nothing to do with this and have no need for point scor...

.2mv vs .4mv out for LOMC into 60db gain phono stage? You are correct. I may have overstated the case, but based on my experience with a .4mV @ 3.54cm/sec output cartridge and one with a .6 mV @ 5cm/sec output, the difference in output was negligible. Thanks for clarifying.

.2mv vs .4mv out for LOMC into 60db gain phono stage? Typo correction. My last paragraph should read:In your case, a cartridge with .2mV output referenced to 3.54cm/sec will give you close, if not quite, the output as one with output of .4mV referenced to 5cm/sec.
.2mv vs .4mv out for LOMC into 60db gain phono stage? Surprised there has been no mention of the importance of knowing which of the two commonly used groove velocity references any given manufacturer uses: 3.54cm/sec or 5cm/sec. A cartridge’s stated output will be referenced to one or the other. Imp...
Jazz for aficionados **** Btw, on this thread the word ’Jazz’ should always be written with a capital ’J’. ****Agreed and always have; without exception. Anyone who does not should have his/her “aficionado” * card revoked.* lower case, of course.
Jazz for aficionados Btw, acman3, I think you’re right. Looks like Basie. Makes sense; can’t think of a more understated piano player than Basie. On another “connection”, Jim Hall (Desmond) was one of Frisell’s teachers. Definitely makes sense. |
