your favorite michael brecker recording? Great choices all, above. I frankly can't think of a Brecker performance on record that was less than good, and usually incredible. Some of my favorite MB recordings of him as a sideman are:-Chick Corea, "Three Quartets"-Mel Lewis "and Friends"- fa...
Am I a burning out audiophile???? You obviously like female vocals. Before you make any changes to your system, pick up Shirley Horn's "Here's To Life" cd. If that doesn't make you feel involved in the music, then there is something definitely wrong with your system. I guarantee t...

Vpi plc question? If you live in the USA or Canada, set it for 60hz. That is the frequency of your AC line. Dial in 600 on the PLC. That will give you the correct speed. To change platter speed to 45rpm, move the belt to the wider portion of the motor pulley.
systems seems to be playing slowly, need thoughts I don't mean to be trite, but I think you are a perfect candidate for a decent turntable.
Can anything beat Vintage Amps for the $$$? I have not heard every $500 modern nor vintage integrated, but I don't think that the claims that vintage integrateds can be excellent value are exagerated. Here's my experience:I own three integrateds for secondary sound systems, a Musical Fideli...
info on Grado Signature arm Congratulations on your new gear. I owned a Grado Sig arm for a couple of years, mounted on a VPI. Good arm; should work very well with your Grado cart. BTW, is it XTL or XTZ? Probably XTZ. The XTZ, which I also owned, was Grado's top cart several...
EAR 834P Impedance? Thanks for the tips guys. Mark, I'm having the opposite issue with the 834's impedance; I think. I am experiencing a very good, but too "wet" sound. The highs, particularly lower highs sound too polite, blunted. The sound is begging for a little m...
Your Top 5 Sax Players? Eddinanm3, I don't disagree with you. There is no question that Sanborn is not the kind of great artist that Coltrane, Getz, or Rollins (and many others) are. An artist he is, however; and as far as my strict interpretation of your original query ...

A brutal review of the Wilson Maxx Rcprince, what is your opinion of Jarvi's work as new musical director of the NJSO? Have you attended any recent concerts? I agree that NJSO is an excellent orchestra. The hall at NJPAC is first rate, with an incredibly low noise floor, detailed w...
Your Top 5 Sax Players? Duanegoosen, point well taken; almost. As I see it, Edinanm3 asks for two different things, really. ALL TIME GREAT has to mean most influential. By the same token, those five may not necessarily be one's favorites. So, using your interpretation of... |
