worse entertainer or performer of all time??
This is the first time, after all these years on the 'goN, that I disagree with something that Albert has written. I think that there is value in a thread like this. I think that the expressed opinions say almost as much about the musical tastes a...
Why does most new music suck?
****"Doomed to what?****Doomed to not being open to letting musical tastes grow and evolve. Not simply being open to new music in a given genre, but open to other genres that offer music created with more sophistication and a higher level of craft...

How did it happen that the American public has gotten so far away from being able to appreciate production values like this. The feeling of sensuality in that scene is amazing. Today we get explicit sexuality as an attempt to make up the for the a...
Amplification for stacked quads?
What don't you like about the EAR's on the Quads? Not a very practical recommendation, but to this day one of the most memorable systems I have heard was stacked Quads driven by Levinson ML-2 class A mono's; and I typically prefer tubes.
Why does most new music suck?
****44 years from now they'll be saying the same thing. ****I'm not so sure. Throughout history, there have been particularly great periods of creativity in the arts; and also particularly stagnant periods.

The subject of RAP makes my head hurt. I am not prepared to say that it is not music, but I do know that if it is music, it is not music that I can relate to nor want to relate to. It doesn't fit my, and most traditional, definitions of music (no ...

One of the most beautiful things I have heard in a while. Very distinctive tenor sound and an interpretation of this great tune that is intimate, tender, and intelligent. Charles Lloyd is without question one of the greats. Jason Moran on piano is...

Orpheus10, thanks for the link to the Radhakrishnan link. I enjoy the fusion of ethnic music within a jazz setting (jazz quartet). However, I find Bengal-jazz fusion to be generally less successful than, for instance, Afro-Cuban jazz. This particu...

****I felt the trumpet was 'commenting' on the lyrics of the song, or, talking to a seperate audience as DR John was telling his story.****That's a great way of putting. "Call and response": We're saying the same thing. From Wiki:++++In music, a c...

I am no monkey, but I will speak my mind about the Dr. John cut anyway :-)In typical Dr. John fashion, amazing groove. And what a voice! Hard to believe, but as he gets older his voice drips more and more funk; it's almost scary. The band is smoki...
