High End Audio-Gaining Higher Ground?
Minorl has it exactly right; as does Wolf re the state of music today. As much as I hate to say it one the biggest obstacles to the success of the High End may be audiophiles ourselves. The cynicism and negativity passing for "reality" as demonstr...

****Raul performed a great service to the community by reawaking to the potential of HO carts. I doubt if he will show up on this thread once again, for obvious reasons. His contribution is noted.****I know some will disagree (Raul?), and I may re...

We do miss things sometimes; and sometimes things fall through the cracks. Frankly, I am amazed that having been a fan of Silver and of tenor saxophone players for so many years I was not aware of that fact. Glad to know and thanks for the educati...

Distinctive voice in jazz who will be sorely missed. Love his recordings. Always great bands with some of my favorite tenor players inc Joe Henderson and the underrated Junior Cook. Here is a good and brief overview of his best recordings for anyo...

The theme of what is good or not keeps coming up in different guises; as expected and as it should. Just as with the music itself, what distinguishes a good reviewer from a bad one is not wether he reviews music that we happen to like, but wether ...

I was in China about three months ago. I sat down to a meal with a very food-adventurous colleague at a very interesting restaurant and ordered, at his recommendation, a crazy dish with jellyfish as it's centerpiece. The strange combination of exo...

I believe that a really good and worthy goal for any discerning music lover is to be able to truly understand the difference between not liking a particular artist's music and feeling that he "doesn't have it in him"; they are two very different t...

Sounds good; but, it doesn't always work that way. Of course, every player should always do their best; that is not being questioned and most of the players I refer to do just that. Attitude, however, is a different matter and is not necessarily s...

Hey Wolf, if you missed that one, I would have to question just how much working you've been doing; no offense intended. I suspect your idea of "working musician" is different than mine. Truth is that for working musicians (those who make their li...

Three tenors! Haven't seen that since Woody Herman's band. Distinctive horn section sound due to no alto and tenor heavy. I don't think there is a singer that has more "Nawlins" vibe than this man:http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N4OVqVXvg_Q
