Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Thanks for the updates on Raul. I hope to see him back on this thread. To give credit where credit is due, I hope we can agree that this thread and Raul's opinions have been, at the very least, thought provoking and sometimes illuminating.****I ju...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Perhaps I missed something along the way; but, DONDE ESTA EL MEJICANO?I hope he is well; wherever he is. Seriously, does anyone have any information re his conspicuous absence?
"Famous Blue Raincoat".. I agree with Martykl word for word. Beyond that, I don't quite understand what is being discussed here. While we can disagree about wether FBR is the best sounding record ever or not, or wether it sounds better than SS or not, I can't for the life...
Jazz for aficionados Wishing all a very Happy Thanksgiving Day. Few things are as worthy of thanks as music is.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iIjKV1M8kqM(Check out Pepper Adams; amazing!)
Jazz for aficionados Excellent observation re big bands and absolutely true. It's hard to imagine the sound of the Thad Jones/ Mel Lewis big band originating in LA; or that of the Terry Gibbs big band in NY.
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners Slaw, nice to see you back on this thread. Normally, I would defer to the OP for any ceremonial "Welcome back" commentary; but, since you addressed me.....As with most things, context is everything. I don't remember the context of my comment re 18...
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners Chris, some brilliant posts recently. Thanks! And thanks for keeping one of the very best threads on the 'goN alive and relevant. Re "time on one's hands": as Vic said in "Broken Arrow": "Ain't it cool?"
Jazz for aficionados ****In the case of East Coast, West Coast, don't get locked down to geographical area; while Lennie Tristano's studio was in New York, the music was strictly "West Coast".****Precisely why I prefer to (and did) refer to the style as "cool school" ...
Best Sounding Musicians Czarivey and all contributors, in the interest of keeping the thread relevant: please clarify what, exactly, we are talking about here? Many great musicians mentioned so far; but, are we talking about favorite musicians, great musicians, or, as yo...
Jazz for aficionados Alexatpos, thanks for sharing. Billy Bauer is a legend among guitar players; in part for his affiliation with Lennie Tristano and Lee Konitz, two of the most interesting players to come out of the "cool" school. Great player!https://m.youtube.com/...
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners Precisely! And, of course, once that task is done the bearing tube must be inserted into the manifold housing; hopefully, of the high-pressure variety. As always, a high-pressure manifold results in more explosive dynamics and creamier highs :-)
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners I volunteer to check and make sure those capillaries are not clogged :-)
Best Sounding Musicians Not quite sure what you mean by "boutique sound"; and, "best", as always, will be argued to be subjective. Having said that, I think that what you may be saying is that there are musicians whose musical "stuff" is so strong that the message always...
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners **A vinylphile, on his way to loan his buddy and fellow LP-lunatic his prized vacuum record cleaner, decides to make a quick stop at the bank for some cash. He pulls into the parking lot and nervously decides that it's probably ok to leave the mac...
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners Chris, that video is one of the funniest things I have seen in a while; thanks. And loved the Anderson interlude; very expressive and unabashed trombone playing. |
