Thanks, pjw.  I still would like to try to hear Carter on 4/9. Let me know if you decide to go.  Due to my work schedule the only dates that might work for Redman are 4/8 and 4/9.  I would prefer Carter on 4/9; but I couldn’t do both 4/8&4/9. ...

pjw, I’m a little confused. You wrote he is at Birdland 4/8-4/12. The date I can make is Mon 4/8. I might be able to make Tues 4/9 depending on the time. The rest of the week is no good for me. What time is the set on Tues?I saw Carter at the Vill...

I must confess that I was so astounded that I looked for clues that they weren’t actually playing, but “playing”along to prerecorded music.  Nope, they are playing.  Amazing!  Better intonation than most college bands.  Even more astounding is the...

Again, you are missing the point. If you weren’t so predisposed to interpreting others’ comments the way that you want to see them it would be clear. I’ll try it one last time (with you). For starters, suggesting that the reason that someone does n...

big_greg, it does help; a lot. Thanks for sharing; and for making MY point.  Regards.
Want to get into Analog
big_greg, thanks for your response. I’m trying to get a better sense of what you consider to be “better” sound; while admitting that you get more enjoyment from the (apparently) lesser.  “Revealing” can mean different things to different listeners...

**** Do I get more enjoyment out of it than my digital sources? Yes! ******** ....more than anything else I get more involved in listening to records than digital sources ****Honest question: So, what exactly is it that, for you, still makes your ...

Nice post, whart. **** But where you realize magic is pretty individual ****Exactly! That was precisely the point of my post. Most of us who have been in this hobby for a long time know all too well that what is considered “better” sound is often ...

What’s the date in April, pjw? Re “Sugar”, I have on lp only. It’s been a while since I listened to it. Love Turrentine, but never been a big fan of Creed Taylor’s sonic aesthetic. I do remember that it was a fairly hot sounding recording with ver...

We have a winner!!  Alto clarinet it is.  Lovano is one very talented dude.  I’ve posted this before, but worth revisiting:https://youtu.be/YaY1GVeHqKw
Vinyl***What If***
Very nice installment of “The Vinyl Press”, Bill.  Thank you.  Not meaning to go off topic too much, but re your impressions of the Monster AG1000: The Monster Sigma Genesis 2000 retains all that you like about the 1000 and more; plus the midrange...

I too enjoyed the Pelt clips; a lot. Thanks, pjw! Interesting player; something very direct and “to the point” about his playing. I did have a little trouble with his choice of synth patch for his horn. On “Blues” (can’t get more direct than that ...
