Have a great trip, Schubert.  Been to Seoul twice.  Once in 1997 and then again three years ago.  The transformation of that city (and country) in twenty years was stunning.  Incredibly cosmopolitan and technologically advanced now.  I hope you fi...

Hear my Cartridges....🎶
Lovely recording, Halcro; and thanks for obliging me with this comparison.I must say that I am quite taken aback with the excellence of the sound of the Sony. While you have treated us to several excellent vintage cartridges, for me this is the fi...
et-2 damping trough-good idea or not?
Raul, this is possibly not the place for this ancillary discussion, so apology to the OP for the diversion.I could not disagree more with your premise, as you often state, concerning “faithfulness to the recording”. First, of course it is true tha...

Glad you enjoyed it, nsp.  I’m not surprised it was a great show; fantastic players.  Congrats!

Raul, I realize that your audio system is perfection exemplified to the degree that only components which are themselves perfect and absolutely neutral in the truest sense of the word and completely free of distortions of any kind merit their incl...
et-2 damping trough-good idea or not?
Great explanations from Chris as always.  The only thing that I would add re the issue of “overdamping” is that the best results for me were achieved with the “paddle” just skimming the surface of the fluid.  The paddle can be adjusted up and down...
et-2 damping trough-good idea or not?
Raul, First, let’s establish that “overdamping” is necessarily a subjective term; well, at least the results are. Personally, I am not interested in convincing anyone of what “neutral” is. I know what I consider that to be and my observations and ...
Who needs a Diamond Cantilever...? 💍
Very funny stuff. As someone for whom English is a second language, or third if I were to use Uberwaltz’ criteria, I would like to point out how this is yet another example of the irony in the currently pervasive ubersensitivity to political corre...
et-2 damping trough-good idea or not?
**** If that " damping " does not affects the normal and " free tonearm/cartridge movements ****It does.**** what you are listening is what is in the recording ****Is it not obvious that my comment was about comparisons of the sound on the same re...
et-2 damping trough-good idea or not?
Heed ct0517’s advice on all things ET2.  I would add that using the trough with the magnesium or carbon fiber warms may actually do more harm than simply negate the need for it by overdamping.  In my particular setup it caused the music to sound o...

Pretty astounding musician.  And on Schubert’s 44 magnum!  It really does make a Yamaha sound like a toy.  Thanks.https://youtu.be/RgKxbbL6xrAhttps://youtu.be/EYWHmfcnp5EWe hear the tune often, the song not so much:https://youtu.be/925dvP3WP4w

**** Are you saying that technique and phrasing, trumps the voice ****Precisely. I might take “technique” out of that sentence. What I believe she is saying and I agree completely is that to an artist on that level, “singing” (or playing) is more ...
