Jazz for aficionados Glad you enjoyed the video, Alex. Very interesting indeed. Wynton is one of the most insightful and knowledgeable figures in music today; and very erudite. The disagreement has to do with, among other things, the origin of Jazz and the influence o...
Jazz for aficionados You know, in some ways you have really good instincts for music. However, your ego and ideology get in the way of becoming a better listener. Its all there to be heard and it is obvious when one becomes a more open minded, hence better, listener....
Jazz for aficionados That’s about the response I expected from you. Like clockwork. Two extremely accomplished musicians whose music you have praised as much as, if not more, than just about anybody. One in particular you hold as God and Savior of the music. Yet, you c...

Linn LP12 ghost or power issue? I have a pair of Meitner MTR-101’s in our country cabin system and they do the same thing. Even when being OFF during the power outage, they will turn on when power returns. So far, no apparent problems as a result; although I worry a bit.
Jazz for aficionados Great to see Frank Wess getting some love. One of my favorite tenor sounds and one of the pioneers of Jazz flute. Got early recognition as member of the Count Basie orchestra. Can’t imagine being able to swing harder than this; and without playing...

Jazz for aficionados Good to see you back, O-10.Beautiful Frisell! That’s another piece of NYC; stoop concerts. Thanks, acman3.Listened to this tonight. It’s no secret how good the JALC band is. Great players with a great leader; although he (Wynton) is not present fo...
Jazz for aficionados Great question. Since political correctness is not my strong suit I would have to say Bill Evans. Although, I’ve known a few women who would probably choose Monk 😉https://youtu.be/PhBQd2VMWzA
Jazz for aficionados I have read a lot about Artie also. He was an absolutely brilliant man in many respects. He was a wonderful musician. He was also uncompromising and many would say, an A-hole. **** do one needs to be (ab)normal if (s)he aims to do ab(normal) staff...
Jazz for aficionados Very interesting, Grammy Award winning documentary on the life and musical rise of Artie Shaw. Some great vintage footage including the hiring a young Billie Holiday; and NYC during the big band era. https://youtu.be/oizFKxjqs7Q
Jazz for aficionados Speaking of Jazz harpsichord and one eyed raccoons....sounds like a nightmare.https://youtu.be/-W59FzOwYIs |
