Curious about ML23.5/336 i had a ml-23.5- great bass, A+ musical textures. but it didn't throw a 3-D stage- it seemed to lack "depth" using b&w801's. i eventually replaced it with a krell fpb-300 which was much more "holographic". both amps had excellent sound quality...
Food for thought/Opinions please i liked the paragraph where middle-class parents would at one time encourage their children to learn how to play a musical instrument. joining the school chorus also plays into my hopes/wishes that young people will instinctually join in the fight...

Coolest looking speaker ever ? get a goldmund catalog and turn to the loudspeaker page.you'll see a series of boxes on a "tree" stand- all mechanically grounded. that pushes all my buttons, except that it's a very large array and would require a room that probably would have to...
I'm frustrated with people who don't ... the other day i had an accomplished finger-style guitarist over to help me unpack some speakers. i asked him to sitdown for a few minutes before we began weightlifting, andlisten to a cd i had on w/classical guitar playing bach.i could hear the at...
Speakers you regret selling walnut ads L-810-II's with stands- sold them to a friend at work for $300. he painted them black the next day- got quite a bit of paint on the metal grills too. i had a quiet fit by myself when i got home. incredible speakers (separation of instru...
vpi jmw tonarm rust yes rust no rust here, but the damping oil for the jmw arm attracted some (desparate) ants- quite a few of them. i got rid of the oil and rubbed a little black flag on my precious plinth!i hope this doesn't screw up the sound too much... i don't want to be...
Record cleaning vs Last Record Preservative i have a huge dark brown bottle of last presevative which smells like a petroleum-dirivative. once upon a time, i put it on a few alblums (following directions as best as i could) and after playing ONE SIDE of the record i had to clean a black tar...
Correlation: Money and Good Sound you get what you pay for- sort of. i.e., i had a hafler300w/ch amp which was much better than a denon amp that it replaced- smoother sounding. but then i lugged home a levinson 23 (200w/ch)-used that was going for a good price.it took 5 minutes to...
Your favorite J.S. Bach 1.the art of fugue-zoltan koscis, piano/philips cd. not a great recording though, but i like the tempo.2.hilary hahn does a (very) nice job on the violin sonatas/partitas and the recording is 1st rate (sony).
Transport for a Levinson 36S DAC proceed pdt-2 or pdt-3, if you can get one, is built like a tank, has very high quality ins and outs, and led the madrigal assault on cdp's before the introduction of the ml #30/#31 (extremely expensive). the pdt looks like a grey bread box though.
I Hardly Listen to Music Anymore i hesitate to admit it, but, while i like to listen to music fairly often, because of the length of most cds, i'll listen to one classical and one jazz/popular cd per session, afterwhich, 100 minutes later, i'm ready to do something else.plus, oft... |
