The current SOTA SACD player Hi Jonathan, Brent, Mike, Grant and Alex. All the above I know personally and consider friends with a common interest in high end audio. I don't want to belabor this but would like to comment on it. I think Ecka's comment above is well put and I'd...
APL Esoteric X-01 Mgottlieb, "you're going blind--aurally". Judging from Grandme posts above, he was "going blind--aurally" when when he bought the X-01. I don't see any difference between that and going the APL route. If the NWO2.5 is as good as the owners claim, ...
The current SOTA SACD player I currently own the EMM DCC2 Signature/CDSD combo. Before I upgraded to the Signature version I bought an Esoteric X-01 Limited. The X-01 Limited had more bass and gave the music more body. At first I thought WOW, this is really good. As I gave it...
Conrad Johnson Act 2 series 2 First Impressions Grant. That was really creative. You should be in the intertainment business :-).
Speaker match with Pass Labs XA-160 Gandme. I own the Talon Firebirds with Diamond tweeters. Right now I'm driving them with the Lamm M1.2 Ref. monos. These are rated at 110 watts of class A power. The Lamms easily drive the Firebirds. The XA-160's would have no problem at all with ...
Speaker match with Pass Labs XA-160 The XA-160's are excellent class A amplifiers. They will match up with a wide variety of different types of speakers and will drive most anything. If you get 50 respounces, you'll probably get close to 50 different answeres. I would concentrate mo...

Esoteric X-01 Limited or new D-03/P-03 It's my understanding that the VRDS in the P-01, UX-1 and X-01 is still the top transport. The VRDS in the P-03 is a lower cost unit. Not their best. The P-01, UX-1 and X-01 VRDS uses a magnesium turntable. Magnesium has only two thirds the specic ...
Have you seen the VR9SE Review? Onhwy61. Maybe you didn't notice that the article is listed under Audio Discourse not Hardware Reviews.
mephisto IIX or ayre cx7-e Kops. I'd like to have one for my coffee table as a conversation piece :-). My wife actually did complain when I sold mine.
mephisto IIX or ayre cx7-e I've owned the Mephisto II and IIX. Loved them both. Never had a problem. Have no experience with the Ayre.Having said that, I think the Audiomeca is a poor investment especially in the U.S. If you have a problem with it, where are you going to ge...
EMM labs upgrades for CDSD and DCC2 Post script. I should clarify something. When I said above that a well recorded redbook is close to SACD, I meant a well recorded SACD. I have some SACD's that in my opinion sound like crap.
EMM labs upgrades for CDSD and DCC2 I have to agree with Fbhifi. After having my DCC-2 upgraded to Sig. it was better top to bottom. SACD was even better than before but what really stood out was the improvement in PCM. They all sound at least a little better but a redbook that is r... |
