Solution for TV between speakers? Sorry, that should have read "8' in circumference" not "8' in diameter"!
Best reviewers First off, you are all wrong. Falstaff is A BEER, dammit! A character in a play? God, what sacrilege will be visited upon us next! As a life-long sci-fi afficianado I have to agree with Tubegroover, though Tolkein's works were more fantasy- than s...
Jazz Recommendations Sdcampbell, posting on this thread is not what will get you in trouble with us. It's NOT posting that'll be problematic! Thanks for the great insights. (Though my music budget can already feel the impending strain...)
Solution for TV between speakers? Albertporter's idea of casters could easily be made to work (here's a picture of the TV stand: http://www.smarthome.com/8700.html). room Just have to find an office chair to sacrifice. Did try moving the TV out of the way, even out of the room ent...
One more BI-WIRE question Not to refute what anyone has said above, but making a speaker bi-wireable also makes it bi-ampable (are those really words?). So, while a bi-wire configuration on a speaker might not be an improvement, bi-amping would. Could that be the true purp...
Jazz Recommendations Though certainly not in the same genre knowledge wise as Sdcampbell, Trelja or the rest, would I be out of line to suggest something by the Modern Jazz Quartet? "Pyramid", "In a Crowd" and "The Complete Last Concert" are all very good. The latter ...

Impress Your Friends and Seduce Women! Hopefully this will add to what Redkiwi so well stated and, coming from a relative newbie, provide some insight into what catches the attention of "the masses" when they hear a high end system. The masses do believe that quality requires volume an...
Cosmetic Repair Thanks for the info, DK. There's a West Marine near my office. It might be worth a stop to pick up a tube to try. If so I'll add the results to this discussion.
Percentage to spend on Amp and Speakers The discussion about how much should be spent on the various components in a system makes for interesting reading. Unfortunately, it appears that all the arguments stated thus far can be both proved and disproved. Doesn't it really depend on the c...
Cosmetic Repair Looking forward to hearing the results. DK.
DO AUDIOPHILES EVER LISTEN TO MUSIC? Try ProGold on those bulbs, David99. I find it eases the brightness of the light a bit.
Cosmetic Repair DK, have you tried the boat polish on CDs? Sounds better than toothpaste which in my experience leaves discernable marks.
BAT or Sonic Frontiers w/ Martin Logans? A Line 1 isn't going to add a great deal of warmth. Even with NOS tubes mine is still pretty neutral sounding. I have no knowledge of the BAT, but will suggest adding Audible Illusions and Cary to your review list if "warmth" is the goal. |
