horace silver has died
His life and passing are very significant to the world of jazz in general and the Hard Bop genre in particular. It's sad to see all the greats passing away and many like him who are irreplaceable.
Review: Harman Kardon HK990 Amplifier
The letter-on-and-off thing in the dot matrix display happened to me sporadically too as it did with Arnettpartners.
New Yamaha a-s3000 and a-s2100 integrated amps ??
I did not now of the A-S2100. That's news to me. I currently have the A S2000 and it's as good an integrated as any I've owned. I will be reading up on the 2100. I see it retails for over $3000.
What Exactly Does "Burn In" do for Electronics?
The change in the sound a new amplifier sends to the speakers as it gets more playing time is as real as it gets imo. Bass, for example, I've heard change substantially. The way bass loads a room can change and that change can be heard and felt se...
McIntosh to be on How It's Made this Thursday
Watched it on dvr. It made me want to buy a McIntosh tube amplifier for sure. I would never drop the cash for one of those however, already spent way to much over the years in the pursuit of a good sounding music system. The segment was so short i...
I gotta laugh at myself, big time
Just started listening to headphones (Creative Aurvana Live 2) after having lost a pair (Grados) that I ignored and hardly ever listened to. Listening to headphones is making me hear what is really possible when the resolution is very high. My sys...
Power Cable choices
System-matching is always the key, and your ears will tell you.
Cleveland Ohio
The Service Department could do the work for you but he is in Bridgeport CT which is outside your 300 mile radius, and will take longer than 15 weeks. The good smaller service and repair shops are probably all backlogged. I suggest to you that McI...
Power Cable choices
I had the top of the line Anticables pc here with very high hopes and it did not improve my system's sound connected to my integrated amp. I really wanted to like it too. Thankfully it came with a return policy. Have had the original Lessloss in a...
Any thoughts on removing a preamp from your system
Never considered passives and have only used actives or integrateds. I read a lot online and the guys praising passives are not that many. And direct to ampers always seems to lead back to using a preamp again.
In Awe of "Yessongs" Forty Years Later
Transnova I never realized that! Haven't understood some of the bands the R&R Hall decided to induct. No Yes? What an absurd omission!
In Awe of "Yessongs" Forty Years Later
For me, the beginning using the excerpt from Firebird Suite is pure genius. 06-02-14: GhosthouseAbsolutely! Yes started their show with the Firebird Suite at the the World Series of Rock and the anticipation that piece created was incredible.I thi...
In Awe of "Yessongs" Forty Years Later
It's the high octane, high powered, virtuosity, the extended nature of the live "Yessongs" perfomances, that have always made them special for me. (the mastery of their instruments and Jon Anderson vocals) Although Yes often achieved greatness in ...
Subwoofer: should we even use them at all?
I've had subs for years and just can't get it right. They sit there unused most of the time. A floorstander that can do deep enough bass is so much more satisfying.
audiphile power cords
"Has any component manufacturer ever gotten on board with recommending any aftermarket power cords for their equipment?"Mitch4t, one example: Joule Electra recommends Purist Audio Design power cords for their preamps. I contacted them and this was...
