Favorite Newly Discovered Female Vocalist Thanks for a great thread with some excellent new to me music. I have a few names to offer: Carly Simon - Listening to her now... "You Belong to Me" and "You're So Vain" and so many more... her voice is timeless. Shirley Bassey - If you grew up...
remembering Eva Cassidy, 25 years after her death A gifted artist. My musical tastes have expanded and I enjoy finding new music. But I always come back to Eva.
Thiel Owners @tomthiel, Thank you. I too think the CS2.2 and that tweeter are pretty special and will look forward to hearing more about the enhancements.
Thiel Owners After spending a good part of nine days with the new-to-me CS2.2 speakers, I can say they are a substantial upgrade in every way over my CS1.5 which I still think highly of. Detailed but not harsh, balanced, and good imaging despite still finding ...
Thiel Owners Thank you Tom I appreciate it. I drove to audition the 02's. They sounded good but the cabinets showed more damage to the wood veneer than I was comfortable with so I did not purchase them. So I drove another hour and auditioned a really nice s...
Thiel Owners Hi all, I have an opportunity to purchase a pair of Thiel Model 02's. Do these have foam or rubber surrounds... I've found online info that suggests it could be either ? How do I be sure the drivers are original without removing them from the ca...
Has anyone switched from Class AB/A to Class D? Was it better? Was it worse? OP: I have not really switched... I have A/B amp with tube pre-amp separates in one system and D integrated in another system. To my ears they both sound excellent with the A/B having a bit better control over the bass.
Have you reached your end point with this addictive hobby? I have been through lots of used equipment but the search is over with separates made in the US by one of the direct to consumer folks who is well known. The sound and quality are excellent and I have no need or desire to upgrade. I have a small s...
Thoughts on Dynaco A25 Speakers I had a pair. They are nice sounding, especially for the small amount of money at which they can be purchased. Mine were not particular with power sources: quality receivers or integrated or separates sounded good at low to moderate SPLs. I think ...
Tannoy history and my unbelievable journey to and experience with vintage Tannoys @vinttannoy, I've been interested in Tannoy speakers for some time and found this very enlightening. So far I have only a pair of Mercury MX2 bookshelf speakers but always looking for a deal on a pair of DualConcentrics. Thanks for posting this.
Big Jazz Band Music with Great Sound I ran across this album on Tidal and it has that Big Band/Jazz sound with modern SQ. The Adventures of Mr. Pottercakes by Patchwork Jazz Orchestra
Revel F36 or Dali Oberon 7 From what I have read, 10 hours is not nearly enough time on the Martin Logans to judge them. I have not heard the 60's but I had a pair of the 40's which is the model just below. Harsh is not a word that I would use to describe them. Smooth, deta...
Sonus Faber Grand Piano Home but with More Sparkle ? Thank you all for your comments and suggestions, much appreciated. I will look into the other speakers suggested, and experiment with toe-in. I've not used Dirac but will investigate that as well.
