Tone controls -- assuming you're ok with them, when would you try them?
I find the anti-tone control fanatics to be the modern day equivalent of corset wearers. Rigid adherence to an aesthetic without much practical benefit. LOL, I agree Eric.
What other Hobbies or Interests Do You Have?
Yeah I spend a lot of time playing and messing with musical instruments. Jammed it out last weekend with some other guys. I have way, way more music gear than hifi gear.
Bose 901
I have never owned them and haven't heard them in decades, but I heard them plenty back in the day and they sounded pretty damn good when they were played at volume.
Why Does CD Sound So Good?
High def streaming music sounds mostly excellent, but my CD player is just audibly better. I did another "test" last night with the same results.
Careful using Loki
Did you contact Schiit? That is very unusual.
Synergistic Research Cable Risers?
I would wager there far more "debbie downers" on here than nano tweakers. Reality bites.
Chemically Altered Audio
LOL. The music appears to be an afterthought.
Pat Travers fans unite!!!
Putting it Straight has always been my favorite, but I like them all.
Heavy Metal Anyone?
I like a lot of heavy metal, but could not disagree more with your premise.
Higher End DACs
I'm sure everything he says is true, can't you tell?
Why are Trolls not blocked
I see far more bloviating blowhards than trolls on this forum. If you want to see some troll action go to the watch enthusiast forum watchuseek(WIS).
Audiophile Bass?
In my limited experience I’ve yet to hear a HT setup that produced realistic, musical bass. It’s too much. Sounds great with movies though.
Usless but interesting ....how many of you old timers started with original Large Advents?
Large Advents were my first real speakers, mid 70's era. I blew a tweeter at some point in the 80'sand ended up with Polks somehow. Details are fuzzy. I held onto the Advents for years before selling the pair and the replacement tweeter about 8-10...
Guest suddenly takes it upon herself to move my speakers
Common sense would have prevented 99.47% of people from moving the speakers. This one got loose.
Balance knob ..
This thread reminded me of the fact that in all my years I have never used a balance control for anything other than diagnostic purposes. Never to "balance' the output of the music. Never really thought about it, honestly. Must investigate.
